I just perused it, more power to him, Im not necessarily frowning down on training every day, Im just because of outside variables I cant do it. If I didnt have to work there would be no doubt in my mind I would train 6 days a week. Now I know there are people such as Wilba who work and are training every day, however as we all are parents in this convo it would take too much time away from the family and my wife would wreck me.[/quote]

I agree 100% Matty I just think it is interesting. Shit man I was dead tired and sore this morning, no way could have worked out. I tried to get up, both the wife and I after the past three days working out looked at each other and said NOPE. Jumped back in bed and grabbed another 1:45 of sleep.

LOL, I give him credit though 32 days straight! thats pretty awesome!

Okay so Matty I was cruising around the conditioning forum and Wilba has a post over there. He is going on almost 2 or 3 months of working out every day. He is our age. http://tnation.T-Nation.com/free_online_forum/sports_body_training_performance_bodybuilding_conditioning/no_rest_days

ok, so what would happen to me if I worked out every day? Seriously.

Now this is purely speculation but I heard if teh womenz work out every day espescially squatting they develop testacles and hairy arms, but I have also heard that DJ likes that kind of thing…so maybe you should start

Damn I have nothing to come back with on this one.

Okay JLO if you work out every day where you work out currently you will end up with an injury no question. They just do not do a body part split that will let something recover. So you will be back with your shoulder and back bothering you.

First, awesome post Kevin. People really underestimate what is hard work.

Second, regarding training every day, I think it is not unreasonable if some of those are cardio or recovery workouts. Shit, I have been training every day, in the sense, for years. Now lifting heavy everyday, that would have to be in a ‘controlled’ environment. I.e. if it was your job.

This.

I check out that log and it looked like many of his days were what I would call active recovery days.

I’ll play 2 hours of flag football but I don’t consider it exercise, I consider it playing.

I think I’d still need a day “off” eveery now and again but I don’t doubt many people can do more than they do safely and effectively.

100 percent agree

Also I did that 60 day challenge so I know you can do something for 60 days straight and still feel fine and get beeter.

Obviously you’d be unlikely to become elite following that sort of training (Broz style) if you worked 10 hr days and had a family life and had to travel to a gym too, but I think someone with a home gym in the basement could follow a lot of those principles and make good progress, albeit with a lower volume, more like Tsatsouline’s “grease the groove” stuff.

I think too many people on here immediately dismiss it without consideration, “I couldn’t do that”, because they can’t expand their minds beyond the, squat once a week , bench once a week and deadlift every 10 days philosophy. If you’ve been following 5/3/1 for several years the thought of doing something like Smolov or Sheiko or daily training would seem impossible and it probably would be. You can only develop the ability to do more work by doing more work.

I think people should try something like this for a couple of weeks before saying they can’t do it, they might just surprise themselves what they are capable of if they push themselves out of their “comfort zone” (I really hate that expression, but it’s appropriate).

^ Farmer kind of what I started thinking a few months ago. I love the 5/3/1 but you cant do it forever, no program is made to stay on forever, just like the one from the article. Rotation of your “tool bag” of lifts and programs is always the best. #1 you have better gains #2 you dont get bored #3 you will be less likely to get an injury.

I have a home gym and everything I would need, however I dont think I could squat everyday.

I will say he does make a good point. Its seems that anymore American culture tends to run pretty lazy in regards to anything physical.
