Xbox One vs PS4

I’ll have to wait until some reports on the Xbox One come in…but after using the PS4 for awhile, it’s great don’t get me wrong, but I feel like they dropped the ball in the UI in certain areas.

And the went a wee bit too far in the “games focused” messaging…I like putting in a thumb drive or external hard drive to watch movies and you can’t do that anymore.

All in all, things have been smooth sailing so far.

@Jewbacca
Buy her a small, handheld Nintedo console (eg the 3DS)
That’s what her friends probably play with.

Nintendo 2DS. All the aweomeness of the 3DS with none of the headaches.

Of course assuming they don’t already have a 3DS (may be a bad assumption).

100 bucks is a hundred bucks.
And already the Xbox is waaay slower (look up Call of Duty).

But the evil eye is, of course, the deal breaker.

When I was little, people were protesting nationwide about a small, insignificant census.
Boy have the times changed!

I don’t imagine that government surveillance and national censuses would have been a very easy sell to the public at that time and place.

Here’s the kicker:
They already bragged about potentially charging more money for movies on demand, because your machine could identify your neigbours on your coach, watching WITH you.

Of course they made a marketing u-turn since then.

But they did not build a weaker, expensive console because they believe in handwaving and dancing replacing pads anytime soon.
Everyone who’s seriously into games or the industry is rather…let’s say pessimistic about that.

The plan is that 100+ million players let the xbone watch every move in their living room 24/7.
Serious amounts of potential cash can be made for this amount of spydata.

And every sound in their house.

The Stasi would have sold every one of their grandmothers for this kind of technology.

Think of this - ordering pizza with only a voice command. Your credit card and address is in there. And now with targeted ads based on conversations going on.

Stoner 1 and 2 sitting on the couch talking about how much they want pizza. All the sudden pizza hut ads spam the screen.

You can, of course, always unplug it.

That is a luxury not granted by the STASI.

This is America. It’ll be plugged in twennyforeseven.

You don’t think tubby neckbeard gamer boys are going to scrabble around on their hands and knees behind the back of their Entertainment Centers searching for an empty socket in the Power Strips to plug in their Game Consoles every time they want to play Call of Warcraft Duty Zombie Apocalypse III, do you?

Well, do you?

Fairer Punkt.

Orion,
there’s a brandnew 3d Holo-Plasma TV for 100 bucks for sale.
The only downside: it emmits a little poisonous radiation if you don’t press an extra button each time you switch the TV on.

But, hey no big deal, you can turn it off and it’s cheap, what’s not to like?

That’s the exact way I feel when talking to people in EB Games.

Severely overweight

poorly groomed (back hair pouring out of the back of the ill fitted tshirt)

vast amounts of technical knowledge when you ask them a simple question.

It’s a little scary.
