What if this dude runs a 3:48 mile an is an Elite athlete in a Real sport?
Then he wouldn’t be here asking stupid ass questions for advice he’s not going to follow.
So you agree that bone size is a determinant factor in someone’s muscle potential ?
I mentioned Dexter Jackson who won a National Qualifier as a bantam weight. His joints were very small to give his body an overall muscled look. Now he is definitely not the norm, but no Mr Olympia winner is the norm. Can it be done with small wrists? Dexter proved that it can.
What we agree on, is that you don’t have one chance in the world of putting on muscle. If you gotta know you can get there before giving it 100%, you don’t have what it takes for this endeavor. You must believe that you can be better because you will give it 100%.
I think what RT Nomad is being too nice to say bluntly, is that you will never make any progress in lifting weights because of factors that you are choosing.
Not because of some stupid fucking calculator.
Why are you still here?
Maybe it’s been mentioned before, but small joints (wrists, ankles, elbows and knees) are seen as a good thing with top BBers. Having a greater difference between the muscled area (say upper arm), and the elbow gives the illusion of more development.
For being the biggest guy around having big joints helps (think pro strongman, or heavyweight powerlifter). Those guys are huge, but don’t have the look for BBing (typically).
Serge Nubret IIRC had wrists under 7". Small elbows too. He was second to Arnold in at least one Mr. Olympia.

You only get to work with what you’re given by your parents. Sometimes I feel jealous of the guys with great genetics I know from the gym. It is kinda silly though. We live in a world were if one does things sorta right consistently that person can have a top 5% physique. You don’t need to look anything like Arnold in his prime to have a really good shot of having the best physique at the beach.
Training is something you don’t have to do (most people don’t). I am addicted to it. I look forward to it. I feel off if I can’t train. I’d train even if it meant only maintaining what I have, or in a few years meant only slowing down age related muscle loss (hopefully I have a few decades before that).
I sure don’t know where you got that I was saying you have to try everything. Read that post again, and you’ll see that I was saying that you should be doing SOMETHING.
Don’t wait for a 100% consensus that your arms aren’t limited because of some site’s math before even starting to lift. Don’t wait for everybody to agree on the “perfect” routine that will smash all your genetic limits. Although you may be limited by bone structure or height or tendon/ligament leverage or something, you are 100% limited by unwillingness to start training.
Simple training plan that won’t take you more then 20 minutes 4x a week:
- Buy a Kettlebell
- Swing it in 4 sets of 50 with a minute rest in between
- clean it with each arm = 3x5
- Do 10 turkish get ups
Do this for three months and come back and tell me you haven’t made any progress.
Your lack of logic/reasoning ability is truly impressive.
Just saw your profile pic and your wrists are huge
That’s a good valid excuse. Go golf.
Weird way to to hit on someone….
Yeah, my wirst size was the key here. Definitely not the almost 18 years of consistent training (with a few breaks), or proper nutrition, or studying methods to induce hypertrophy. Definitely none of that.
I can’t tell if you are really this dense and lazy or you’re just a troll.
I was just pointing it out, I wasn’t implying that you didn’t need to work hard to get there
Yes, I get that. I was pointing out your uncanny ability to focus on completely the wrong thing and giving up before even trying.
There are zero people on the planet who don’t benefit from resistance training.
I’ve never found someone with a great physique who didn’t work hard to get there.
We all have our strengths and weaknesses, sure, but I’ve found that not trying is one of the biggest weaknesses of all.
God damn it man, i cant believe your not even giving it a shot.
Lifting weights is the best thing that ever happent to me. My “genetics” are horse shit but i overcame that by pouring my heart into it, doing a shit ton of research on diet and nutrition and no im not a mass monster like some gifted guys i see in the gym but i sure as hell look better than a bunch of them, recently being around the 8-9% bodyfat mark meanwhile those genetically gifted guys i talk of sit at 17%BF , letting theyre gift do the work rather than work half as hard as i do when were in the gym side by side lifting.
I read most of this thread and its seriously dissapointed me, because fitness literally saved my life , gave me confidence back, better mental health, and a better sense of purpose, and you wont even give it a shot.
Dude my wrists are tiny, i was never more than 120 lbs in highschool, and at one point i reached 188 lbs with 16 3/4 " arms .
This time around im only 160, but much lower BF % as i eat a better cleaner diet. I should also note im only 5’6" .
I know this thread was written some time ago, but i hope you gave the gym a shot man. The gym is my second home, i fuxking love it . It could have changed your life for the better like it did mine but you didnt try because of an online wrist calculator. Do you understand how absurb it sounds .
GET TO THE GYM
