"Want to know the funniest thing?? That guy was not actually the judge. The “side” judge was sitting on his left hand side at roughly a 45 degree and to the platform and about 3 feet back from even being on the EDGE of the platform. Most of their calls during the day came from looking at the other side judge and agreeing with them. A few people commented on it at the meet to like.
But I’m not bitter. Oh no…"
James you should be bitter with anita o’mahony judging you. Anita was busy on her computer and after each lift she would look at the other judges and then place her card up. You might of racked before the signal but the refs should of told you on the day.

If you rack the weight before you get the signal, that is a red light… no matter how nice the lift in itself is… :)
I’m well aware, there was a “rack” befroe the loud one tho. And I had already got one red before i even locked the lifted out. As soon as I hit the sticking point one of the judges signalled like (or so i was told).
And thanks Misere, keep plugging away and you’ll get there no porblem!
To me it looked good. I don’t know the rules about sticking, but it sounds like bull to me. If you can fight through a sticking point it should be good.
Hanley, that is a good squat anyway you slice it. give yourself the credit and come back stronger. keep up the good work, as its obvious you have lots of potential in powerlifting.
Good effort, and you obviously have it in you to squat that weight legally, but there was definitely a slight downward movement at the sticking point. I personally would’ve given it a red. However, like everyone else said, just forget about it and blow it away next time.

And Daox… I appreciate the honest feedback. At least I don’t feel as robbed because the only people at the meet who seemed to think there was double movement was the judges!
Thanks again to everyone for the positive encouragement. I’d love to do what Mike Miller did at this years NERB on his second attempt at my next meet and just take it out and sit at the bottom, pause it for a couple of seconds and then ask them if that one was ok!

And next time, if the head judge mumbles, simply keep the weight on your back and keep looking. And ask the other lifters to do the same.
If he insists on a good lift, he should be able to give loud and clear orders.
Haha I would have loved to but I don’t know if you noticed that after i unreacker it i had to rotate my elbows back and drop my upper back forward a bit becuase the bar was falling off my back. It was like I was doing an isometric behind the neck press. I just wanted to get rid of that fucking bar ASAP!
