Salary is geography dependent. Fort Worth ISD is 40k and up, not to mention little bonuses here and there for any special abilities you may have. The more experience or a Master’s degree, the more you make as well. PLUS, depending on the district, you can get them to pay for your teaching cert while you’re working on it.
Little to no competition, except for the all-white schools of course, and you will never be downsized or not needed.
Lastly, I think that the REAL screw job on teachers is that some universities (mine included) force you to get an internship (often unpaid), and “strongly” disagree with you getting a job while in school. And by strongly disagree, they mean do not fucking get a real job. School is your #1.
I know several girls going into the field, and it sounds like cake if you like dirty ass little kids and working half the year while making as much as people working all year at a desk.
My ex was lining up for a job at 45k a “year” with no experience, no cert, and a Bachelor’s degree. They were going to pay for her cert and she wasn’t even going to have to work with the poor kids. My dumbass sits at a desk ruining my eye balls for 41k a year, every day, all year.

Teaching is an art, not a science. Do you know how hard it is to get teenagers (whose frontal lobes aren’t fully developed btw) to understand what a proof is? Then, Jenny’s having her period, Mark just broke up with Kate, Jake is now dating Kate so Mark wants to beat his ass…get those kids to do proofs.
If teaching is cushy and ‘Wow, look at all the time off!’, take a couple of years (if you already have a degree), borrow $30,000 or so, and come join me. We’ll start you at 32K and your first hour class is called “Trigonometry for Terrorists”.

Judging by the time of day most of the people saying shit like this posted it, I would wager that most of y’all are working a half day anyway.
