You guys are pussies! I had to write a 350-page paper on the mating habits of fruit bats back in high school.
I always hated having to deal with all the minutia involved with writing MLA perfect papers in high school. Then I started learning how to program. Try writing several hundred lines of x86 assembly or several thousand of C/C++. One typo, one misplaced semi-colon or curly brace and the whole thing is fubar. Makes MLA seem nothing more than a minor annoyance.
As a senior in highschool i had to write a 16 page paper on Vince Lombardi, MLA style, i still have nightmares

Papers on Pride and Prejudice should be written by women.
Men do things like science and math.
Drop the class.
So writing is only for women huh? And the greatest writers in the history of the world have all been women, right?
Wait a second…
Dumb fucking comment.
I only agree with the comment from the standpoint that writing anything about Jane Austen is just f-ing painful.

Well, I agree with that, I can’t fucking stand most women writers. The only ones I could say I really like a lot are Joyce Carroll Oates and Flannery O’Connor.

It was meant to be funny.
With no voice inflection that kinda stuff gets missed on the internet.
But I still fucking hate Jane Austin, and I’m not a big fan of English courses in general.
I wrote a five page critical analysis of just the first two lines of the book a couple weeks ago (got an A-). Another page or two on a broader topic really shouldn’t be a big deal.
MLA isn’t hard either:
-
12 pt. Times New Roman font
-
1" margins
-
everything completely double spaced
-
the page number preceeded by your last name in a header in the upper righthand corner
-
your name, your professor’s name, the name of the class, and the date (i.e. 15 November 2006) left aligned at the top of the paper
-
the title centered afterwards without any skipped lines
-
the bibliography on a separate page with the word “Bibliography” centered at the top of it
-
in text citations should be before punctuation and in parentheses, using the last name of the author as the identifier for the source followed by the page number – “(Waterbury 24)” for example
-
quotations longer than three lines should be turned into block quote, completely indented with the quotation marks removed
Have fun.

Man, I hate MLA citations and shit.
They should re-instate the “I said so” clause.
If you don’t already know of it, you can do citations (the formatting at least) through NoodleBib for free:
I will trade you…I have to write a 5 page paper (ACS format) on alpha-tocopherol (vitamin e basically) and its effects on blood platelets sticking together!

Just because they’re popular don’t mean they’re good. I was never too impressed with her…I like writers who are a bit darker than Rowling.
If you’ve read O’Connor or Oates, you know what I’m talking about. Ballsy women they are.
There’s a lot of fucking whining on this thread. Either do it or fix the problem (which sounds like a horrid English teacher for the OP).
Seriously, spay her.
I agree with the gorilla avatar guy - most English classes are a complete waste of time unless taken for personal interest. Learning how to write: good. Writing about writing and tons of fictional literature analysis: pointless.
And don’t anyone give me critical thinking horseshit on that kind of book, there’s no such thing. That only applies to concrete writings that have definate meaning and real answers.

We have to take 2 writing classes. Unfortunately this was the only one available at the times I can take classes, full-time worker.
Yay! Another 5 page paper due the Monday after Thanksgiving on…drum roll please…Pride and Prejudice!
“Woe is me”

There is no such thing as definite meanings in writing, and your real answers are likely different than other people’s.
GOsh damnnit. How lucky am I to see this thread right as I head out to the library to finish my 30 page paper on the muscle innervation. Gosh damn. Its due tomorrow!

“Papers on Pride and Prejudice should be written by women.”
I agree. Much like the Lifetime Channel is strictly for women. The TV should automatically change the channel away from Lifetime when a Y chromosome enters the room.

ahh, college.
How in the hell can you write 10 pages on the composite breeds of cattle? You have English, Exotics, and their crosses.
Professors must love to wield their power. I didn’t even know ag professors could read that well.
quite easily. you talk about the history of each breed. you also discuss breeding theory on how to produce differing types of composite breeds, example, how do you obtain a 3/8 Angus 5/8 Brangus cross. i only used six examples and i easily ate up 11 pages.
also, there are British breeds, Continental European breeds and yes Exotic breeds of cattle. plenty of information and it is redundant but if that is what the professor wants and it gets me an A…
you’d be surprised about ag professors. especially those involved in research and reproduction fields.
I have to write a childrens book review (Everyone Poops was my first choice but I couldnt get it) 7-9 pages, APA, and a paper on bipolar disorder 6-8 pages, APA, for two weeks from now.

Sounds like someone needs to learn how to use a debugger.
