Worst Bodybuilding Injuries?

One time I pinched the tip of my dong between two dumbbells.
Had a little blood blister on my mushroom tip for almost two weeks.
It was horrible but could have been much worse.

While I am laughing at this one, I’ve come fairly close to doing this myself before -lol.

One time back in college, my buddy who first got me into training was doing tricep pressdowns. It was in your typical crappy, poorly maintained 80’s/90’s state college gym, so things were rusty, bars were bent, and cables were fraying. Well, as he eeked out his last rep, the bar came up and actually clipped the very tip of his nose. It looked like a few layers of skin came off, but damn it wouldn’t stop bleeding! It wasn’t a bloody nose in the conventional sense (sounds kinda funny saying that), and while he wasn’t in pain, he got pretty worked up as we seemed to be unable to get it to stop bleeding after a good 10 minutes!

Ahhh,… haven’t thought of that in a long time

Matt Kroc…

I haven’t had a “very” serious injury but I’ve had numerous moderate ones, but always found a way to work around them. here’s a list;

  1. herniated (now degenerated discs) in lower back for 25 yrs.
  2. stress fracture in spine thoracic area(no issues as of today other than arthritic changes)
  3. tore both hamstrings, (one pretty bad)
  4. torn labrum and rotator cuff in left shoulder(surgery 5 yrs ago and need it again), torn rotator in right shoulder, (putting off surgery on both indefinitely)
  5. torn meniscus both knees,(and a Bakers cyst in one)
  6. torn tricep
  7. smashed top of middle finger almost completely off with a dumbbell(severed tendon and nerves). (Tendon healed but appears that nerve damage is permanent).
  8. recently been having pain and clicking or dislocation type feeling in hip or SI joint. Not sure what it is until I see a Dr. but my guess is labrum.
That’s everything I could remember lol. In spite of it all I still feel pretty healthy and spry and always figure out a way to train around whatever’s bothering me. Still training heavy and balls to the wall.

I sprained both of my calves at different times. Worse than the pain is just feeling that the muscle has torn a lot in the middle…it didn’t come off the tendon or anything…just in the middle of the muscle belly.

I’m 40 and so now I won’t do calf raises anymore. I still do the main lifts, but I have good enough calf development I guess and I just don’t see the need to do any direct work like that.

if your shoulder hurts with overhead presses you can try incline presses.
if your back hurts with squats you can try box squats
