Only sensible option is to give trans people two options: either they compete with sex they’re born with or compete in separate trans-men/women divisions.
Those would be extremely small/marginalised competitions but it would be fair for everybody, including trans people.
And I need to point again the fact that the competitor did not win anything, since he/she broke the rules. So nobody did let this happen. He/she cheated.
I do not like Trump (I’ve realized he’s like cilantro…the people who like him can’t see why anyone wouldn’t, and the people who don’t are physically repulsed and can’t understand not finding it repugnant) but I will give him credit for bringing attention to matters that have long needed light shined on them and the public dialogue that results.
Both sides of the political aisle count on the public’s distracted attention to what they’re doing (for money and votes). Mostly we grumble to our friends and spouses about these things because most of our attention is on whether or not there’s going to be a raise this year at work and whether we’re going to rake the leaves this weekend along with everything else there is to do and Christmas is coming, so all that needs to be done, too.
Men dominating women’s strength sports is practically a tradition at this point. I posted this thread in 2017 about Laurel Hubbard winning in weightlifting. It’s interesting to go back and read what people’s takes were on it back then.
I could also deadlift more than any woman on the planet at the time. Tamara Walcott, a woman without a penis, bested my PR a few years later.
It is sad that so many here just go to politics. It is even more sad that some say that all the women look like guys. It is ignorance.
I would be all for a separate trans competition. Strongman is the only sport where I actually enjoy women competing for the merit of it. I would get crushed by them, and that is motivation for me.
All strongman and woman is non drug tested at highest level, and that is fine. But in any sport, it is unfair for men to compete against women, and I believe they took the correct action here. It is just common sense
I like women’s college basketball (Lady Vols) and female MMA. Women are ruthless in MMA.
Men should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports. That’s just common sense. The only people that disagree are probably those that have never competed in sports or against women.
I think the majority of Americans agree with this statement. This is a small poll (and of course from NYT):
