Savickas qualifying is no small feat given his injuries and weight loss.
There we go!! That is why they are in the lineup.
I am going to spam this thread with some videos…
For as amazing as Hall is at strongman I think he should do powerlifting. He would probably total 2500 raw in his first year easy. PLers make more money at that level than strongmen?
Honestly I always liked Thor and Hall but it’s hard not to like Shaw. This might be Eddie’s year. In first after day 1 and according to youtube he out placed Shaw in the plane pull and Thor is in a distant 3rd still.
You can “dip” or bend your knees, then drive up like in a Push Press. The legs go from bent to straight.
In a push jerk, you “dip,” drive up and as the bar is “weightless” you rebend your knees and “dip” again under the bar. Legs go bent, straight, bent, straight.
Push Jerk.
The second “dip” makes the push jerk technique illegal in Viking press.
Thor doesn’t “dip” on the 15th rep, but his knees slide forward, to get under the bar. He is wedged under the apparatus, he kinda overhead squats it up.
but is his claim off being robbed of the title valid?
Ive seen people say in his comments, even if the rep counted eddie would have won due to him winning more events.
But then terry hollands said in the comments, that “stones where the deciding factor”
From what I’ve seen of Hall, winning WSM was his ultimate goal and once he’s done he said he’s going to lose some weight so it’s not a huge surprise he’s retiring. He said he was prepared to do basically anything to win and I think now he’s done that he’ll go back to being more ‘normal’.
About Thor and the Viking press; Eddie apparently went after him anyway so he knew what number he had to get. Based on his pressing performance in the past it wouldn’t surprise me if he got 16 reps if Thor had got 15 but I’ve not seen a video of Eddie’s performance so I’m only assuming.
I was really rooting for Hall, I’m glad he’s finally won.
After 2010, they no longer do countbacks in WSM. That said, since Hall went last on the Viking press, odds are he would have simply done 16 reps to beat Thor. He did what it took to win.
