World Cup 2010 Thread

I have no idea what team might win, its hard to make predictions, but just to make something clear for everyone out there: Portugal cannot win. When a bunch of portuguese are working “together” on something, it never works out well, trust me!

^ Lol. sounds like the beginnings of a polish joke.

Agreed to an Henry move to the US. It’s the only way we’ll get any better.

Yes to US winning the US v Eng match. And I think it could happen. England should be en guard. As was stated, underachievers. HAH! Rooney! God I love em, reminds me of a pot belly pig. He better not get injured. He’s fun to watch.

Top Goal Scorer: I’d love to see Messi or Milito.
Top GK (Lowest goal/shots on frame ratio or subjective): Van da Sar (he’s actually the only goalie i know!)
Fewest Goals Against: Italy - haha! yes, to “smothering” Freaking italians!
Best Goal off of Set Piece (subjective-obviously): oh man, i honestly don’t know.

Villa for top scorer I reckon. If England go far, then Rooney’s in with a chance.

Set piece goal: Hmmm … Ronaldo could be in with a chance. Remember that beast of a free kick against Porstmouth?

Where have you been dudeski? There’s like a 95% chance Drogba won’t play because he got an injury in a pre-world cup game a few days ago.

Brazil…Korea…Ivory Coast…and Portugal…man what a tough group. They don’t call it the group of death for nothing

Yeah but he still deserves to be mentioned when talking about top fowards tho

I still can’t believe that Eygpt, Greece and Russia all rank above us…am I missing something here? How spectacular are these teams? Has anyone seen them play? Ive seen Eygpt here and there but the others i’ve missed. Someone fill me in

I have been scheduled for a double Saturday!

Think the Dutch might start a riot with this uniform

Oooft

It’s funny that the hosting country won’t even make it past the first round, more than likely. SA sucks at football, yet it’s one of it’s more celebrated and endorsed sports.

The parades there today have been epic, so I hear.

And a shot for every US goal please!

Spain or Germany.

Dark Horses : Ivory Coast, USA (don’t get offended).

Not Brazil again please.

EDIT : Someone please kick Rooney in the nuts during the tournament. Peace. Thanks God.

Being born and raised In america… the very last thing I ever want to happen is for the US to win the world cup. We’re already cocky enough as a whole… us winning the world cup would just have every redneck that doesn’t give a shit out soccer until now suddenly talking shit.

Its like a football team from Iraq won the superbowl… the country as a whole could care less about football but they suddenly would become real cocky and arrogant about it.

They don’t have the same amount of money to throw at it like other countries though… you can basically buy the best team if you wanted… just have to have tons of money and 10-15 years to guarantee best in the world.

One reason america is progressing so rapidly these past few years with the growing interest… if you saw the confederation cup… I almost died when it looked like they were gonna win. The US will probably win the world cup as early as 2020.

Best team talk ever:)

yeah ORLY… and you will never meet a person that is more against it but after the confederation cup I was like oh shit this blows… the youngins are looking good. Its not something I want but you have to face the facts… they are getting better and in the last few years they have improved at an exponential rate.

They are throwing more and more money at it… I don’t think its unreasonable to think that in 8 years soccer as we know it will be turned upside down… by 2030 the US for sure will have won once.
