yeah ORLY… and you will never meet a person that is more against it but after the confederation cup I was like oh shit this blows… the youngins are looking good. Its not something I want but you have to face the facts… they are getting better and in the last few years they have improved at an exponential rate.
They are throwing more and more money at it… I don’t think its unreasonable to think that in 8 years soccer as we know it will be turned upside down… by 2030 the US for sure will have won once. [/quote]
I think maybe he was LOLing the year, you probably mean 2022 ![]()
Has the US ever won any kind of World Cup in anything? I mean in sports the rest of the world actually plays. Not hating…
^Since World Cup is soccer only, than no. How ever if you are referring to world sporting events, than yes. The Olympics.
Fuck Henry & go Ireland!!!
We have won the World Cup of Hockey.

Have you ever lived or travel to countries in South America or Europe? U.S can have all the money in the world BUT the sport will never EVER be part of U.S culture. Kids in Europe and South America are playing in the streets as soon as they can walk. This is why you will never see any U.S player be the best in the world unless he grows up in another country and becomes a U.S citizen. Put it this way, while little Johny is playing Sunday Football and his mommy cheers for him and brings snacks for the team another kid over in the streets of Italy or Argentina is already more skillful than older kids.
U.S has improved A LOT but winning the world cup? I don’t see that happening in my life time.

I don’t know if victory can be guaranteed %100 (I personally think it is only a decade or two away) but contention surely can.
Also, just a bump to say that if anybody is doing the sky sports fantasy, I set up a league for T-Nation. The Pin is 49489
I’ll be at a few of the games…VIVA ESPANA! Our time is at hand!!!

Well actually I wasn’t paying attention to the years just saying as early as the next decade and as late as the following. But what I meant(“in world cup years”) is as early as 2 more world cups 2018 and at least by 4 2026

I’ve been to several countries over seas… South Africa, Spain, Germany(for the last world cup), Iran) Haven’t lived in any… but I have spent extended periods of time in Iran… yes soccer is ingrained in their culture… but over the years, playing sports all my life being through the system I’ve come to learn(or accept however you want to say it) that yes you can buy the best team… you just need a little bit of time and a lot of money.

What you have shown in your last several posts is that you don’t understand who develops soccer players here and in other places around the world. According to your prediction, we are going to win the WC in 2022, 2026, or 2030. Correct? So at least some of the players who will play for the US National team are in the system now, being developed to play on that WC winning squad. Tell me who is developing those players? Who is paying for that development? How do you know it’s being done better than they do it in Europe and South America. Because unless it’s happening right now, we’re not going to win any of those 3 WC’s. Also, how do you know more money is being spent here? What figures do you have that show that to be true?
Look, the list of realistic WC champions is a pretty short one. Uruguay won a couple a long, long, long time ago, but in the last 60 years or so you really have 4 countries who have a legit chance of winning: Brazil, Italy, (West) Germany, Argentina…the end. Yes, France and England have snuck in and won one each while they were on home soil. Spain looks set up to get in that group this time and the Dutch have probably been unlucky not to get one back in the 70’s.
My point is that this is a very elite group of teams that have a quality and depth of talent along with the tradition of playing a sound tactical match that we really aren’t even close to having. The thought that we’re are going to get into that group in the next 20 years is absurd. Take a look at the rosters of those squads I pointed out above. What you will find is the majority of players playing for the very best clubs in the world: Barca, Real Madrid, ManU, Chelsea, Inter, etc. We have exactly 0 players playing at the top clubs in the world. Yes, we have some guys playing in England for some mid flight clubs, and our gk’s are on par with those of any country in the world, but we don’t have anyone who plays for the clubs that produce (there’s a hint for you) the players who dominate the WC.
Nobody wants us to get better and win the WC more than me, I’m just realistic about when it will happen.
