Anyone got any predictions now that we’re into the sudden-death matches?
I’ll take Uruguay over Ghana in that quarterfinal. In the rest of the round of 16, Holland should beat Slovakia, and Brazil should beat Chile, leading to one heck of a quarterfinal between Brazil and Holland.
Argentina should beat Mexico (although I’d love an upset there), leading to another classic matchup: Argentina vs. England. The Paraguay-Japan game is irrelevant, because the winner will be crushed in the quarterfinals by the winner of Spain-Portugal (I pick Spain).
Allowing my wishes to lead me on, I’ll take Holland over Brazil, and then over Uruguay in the semis. On the other side, I’m afraid Argentina will beat England, but (I hope) Spain will then beat Argentina, for a Holland-Spain final, won by Spain.

I’d just like to point out that I called a Holland-Spain final back on page 29. Finally, one of my three favorite teams is going to win. If only they could both take it…

We’ll never know who’s got the better psychic powers now: Paul and I are both calling a Spain win tomorrow, and he’s at the end of his lifespan. Apparently they’re hoping he passes his powers on to some other octopus.

Entertaining match between Germany and Uruguay, plenty of goals, especially compared to what we will see tomorrow.
Hopefully Spain or the Netherlands can put one in early and open up the game, otherwise it will be a grinder for sure.
Missed it. I saw Forlan’s goal - how good is he?!
I heard it was a cracker. I hope tomorrow’s as good as this apparently was.
He’s fucking good. He almost tied it 3-3 right at the end in extra minutes from a free kick, it HIT THE POST! Directly after the ref blew the whistle and the game was ever. Forlan is the shit.
And to WC7 you are right, Spain or Netherlands better score in the opening minutes of the game. Second half is always better than the first half.
Lastly I don’t care who wins honestly, but I’m gonna have to choose Spain… because they dive less (at least from what I’ve seen).

I’ll take Netherlands over Spain 3-2 in what I hope is a very open game.
I’m gonna go 2-1 for holland but hopefully 3-2 for them.Winning 14 games in a row on the way to the final makes them deserving enough of winning the title.
That was one of the most miserable fucking games of football I’ve ever seen in my life,at any fucking level.I suppose the better team won on the night but that was the worst finish to the tournament that I think could have happened.Fucking awful stuff.
That guy who scored the winning goal has just guaranteed himself to get laid whenever he wants. I’m sure he could walk into a bar in Spain, point at any girl in the bar and get an instant blowie. The chicks boyfriend would be like “eh well he did win the cup for us so I guess its ok”

…i guess that’s it. The octopus had it right again!
Such a shame, but the Dutch defence was only just enough the whole game until the end.
…the spanish team was slightly better and deserved to win. There’s little the dutch side can be proud of; they truly fucked it up. Now i just hope the million fans in Amsterdam don’t decide to riot out of spite…
