Ahh man why get personal? I’m just trying to have a discussion about football but if people are going to start name calling then forget it…
Ha I’m not namecalling. Just gently poking you in the ribs with a sharp stick.
Regardless your username renders your opinion on this subject null and void.

haha I’m not going to lie I used to be a big fan. Now a days I actually like to argue both sides. I think both players are great but I like Ronaldos style better.
No denying he is a great player No4 in the world after Messi, Xavi and Roonry I just think there is too much hype about him caused by the sensationalist English press during his time there. Also he is a massive prat.
Messi is a kid wonder. He’s #1 because he has his own style, no one plays like him. Xavi is great, so is Rooney, even Ronaldo - technically they’re all impressive, but they lack Messi’s gusto.

I’ll be rooting for the U.S!! but my second team will be england… England is the only friend America has and are the nicest people I have ever met… Australians are very nice and cool aswell… so i have three teams now… Fuck everybody else!! especially North Korea!!
That’s funny. I like your logic. My back up team is Spain, then England. As long as its not the Germans or the fekking French I’m happy. I’ll even take the Italians.

Not what I said but he can’t score headers nor can he take free kicks. He’s good but he wouldn’t seem as good if it wasn’t for the team he plays for. Watch this World Cup how insignificant he’s going to be.
Sorry guys i’m reading the thread backwards, so i’m coming up to stuff now. anyways, this is the last i’ll say:
you have a point, Messi is only so good b/c of Barca. agreed. But as long as Maradona plays the right players around him, he’ll be golden. Aguero or Palermo up front with him i think is best. As much as I love Tevez he doesn’t play well with Messi, they’ll use Tevez as clutch.

Like I said before, I think Messi is a good player BUT you won’t see the Messi you see in La Liga or the Champions League. \
Ronaldo however plays exactly the same for Portugal as he would for United or Real. As someone else said before Ronaldo pretty much carried Real Madrid in the last few weeks of La Liga. Also look at United this season, they won nothing. I don’t think it’s coincidence at all and I see it as Ronaldo being more of a leader and having more impact on the teams he plays for as oppose to Messi who has to depend on other players to play “his game”.
The US isn’t bad, but they are behind. I think they will advance, but they have their work seriously cut out for them to go all the way. I will definitely root for them, but the competition at this level is unreal.

HEY! We didn’t win nothing… we won… ummm… the Carling cup… that is still better than nothing right? (Actually it is only cause we knocked fucking citeh out of it)
Also I just don’t think Maradona is good enough as a coach to send out a team that will get the best out of Messi whereas Queiroz knows Ronaldo from their time together at United. Not saying it will make a difference but it could help Ronaldo have a better tournament than Messi (If Ronaldo is used properly and Messi is not).

WTF is with all the Scots rooting against England? Was in Scotland for some of the last World Cup and saw it repeatedly. My Scottish relatives consider themselves BRITISH…
There seem to be several constants in the World Cup (though I’ve only been watching since 1998): Spain and England will both have promising moments, and then perform well below expectations. The Germans will play solid, brutally consistent soccer. The Brazilians will play well, but will fake all kinds of injuries in the hopes of getting penalties called against the other team. If the event is held in South Korea, there will be all kinds of crazy calls made in favour of the home team.
Being half Scottish (other half definitely isn’t English) and living in England I will support England but I get the reason most Scots don’t really give a damn about the England team. This includes Scottish relatives. The way the media fixates on the England team just becomes unbearable.
Btw, if Scotland was in the World Cup and England wasn’t…don’t believe for a second that Scotland would suddenly have all the support of their cousins down south

I agree about the English media I don’t really care about the English team but the media over there are unbearable.
Oh yeah its Germany !
Waiting for a Germany vs Argentina at any stage…
Rooting for Germany but interested in Argentina …goes back to the days of Maradona vs Lothar Matthaius duels.
