Sat - Hers: He was quiet, subdued, just not himself. Something was wrong. He hasn’t kissed me all night. Not even looked in my direction. I think it’s another women. I went to bed and cried. He followed me up later. I cuddled up to him and stroked his hair. He lay still. Eventually we made lo…ve and fell asleep in each others arms.
His entry: England lost, fucking gutted. Got a shag though.[/quote]
It had been such a good 24 hours for the English soccer fan: France loses… Germany loses… the US is robbed of two points by a crazed ref… and then THAT…
The whole team seems to have some sort of permanent malaise. I think Ballack said it best when he said the Germans are inspired by their soccer history, while the English are intimidated by their own.
USA v Slovenia was so fucking crazy, and then afterwards I sorta-watched Algeria/England. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum, FUCK!
The thing about watching a boring game of soccer is, once you’ve realized it’s boring it’s probably well into the 2nd half, and by then you might as well finish the game.
You didn’t get robbed. Players were pushing each other in the penalty area, and don’t tell me, that only Slovenian players were doing that. It was a ref’s call, but he could also quite easily allowed the goal. I’m just glad he didn’t.
He should also discipline players for roughness when fighting for headers at the start (Demspey (or whoever that fucker is) deserved a yellow card at the beginning, cause it was intentional elbow to the face).
But by the looks of it, England fuckin sucks. We even have a chance for a draw at the next match.

You’re kidding right? Pushing is one thing, bear hugs are another

Whatever. They were trying to give all the US players handjobs.

Bad refereeing ruins games - specially when a considered underdog is doing well and would have a win; that is even more unfair.

Well, imo, if the referee didn’t disallow the goal, us (Slovenians) would have nothing to moan about, meaning that he had every right to allow it. But in these situations the ref’s sometimes don’t do anything, sometimes sanction the defensive team, and sometimes offensive team. Come on, I’m sure you know that. It’s the ref’s call.
Another thing is, that USA were definately not an underdog in this game. You should take a look at our first national league (like american MLS). It’s disastrous. Thank god most of our players are playing abroad.
And let’s be honest, if it was the other way around, and the ref would disallow our goal, nobody would even be talking about. But hey, we’re not USA.

OK. You’re right about the one on the bottom right, but with others it’s either way. And I saw that USA filed a complaint about the refereeing. I hope they also included that first Dempsey’s header and poor refereeing there, where he (Dempsey) could also get a red card. I expected him to play a dirty game, but going with the elbow to the face at the very beginning is just too blatant.

Fair enough. You have a point.
However, I also see at least 7 big hugs of USA players.
That is at least 7 penalties, making it potentially 9 x 2.
I kid.
I am expecting a Brazil 5 x 1 Ivory Coast on Monday.
Or a 3 x 0.
Any less and it will be hugely disappointing.
Or maybe they should change something in the rules because goals are simply not forthcoming like they used to be.
Or it’s something else I can’t see.
I’m not sure about Brazil vs Ivory Coast. The latter are not so bad. If Drogba plays well it could be an interesting match. But still, Brazil will probably win.
Card on Demsey Earlier? Your right. Disallowing the American goal because of an American Penalty? You have GOT to be kidding me. If even FIFA is coming out and saying the goal shouldve been allowed and the Referee did an all around poor job thats still not enough proof to you?
Even the South Africans were recorded on their own television and radio stations how poor of a job he did and how African Referees are “Third Rate referees” I understand you like and support your team but call it like it is man
