World Cup 2010 Thread

whos supporting Algeria tonight?

What a shit show. USA won 3-2. I’ll be very surprised if this referee officiates again in this world cup. And thats not just me…every announcer is saying it.

Not to mention…how do you give Findley a yellow card for the ball hitting him in the face? WTF???

Two fucking idiot referee’s in two games today. I hate them, use a different system and instant replay.

That referee blew the call and blew the game for the USA. It’s unfortunate that it had to come down to that, but in all reality, if the USA had shown up for the first half of the match, it wouldn’t have mattered.

All the USA needs to do now is win against Algeria by a large margin, and hope that the rest of the teams in the group don’t score a ton of goals.

I also hope that the US Military launches an offensive again the country of Mali, as retaliatory actions for referees call against the USA.
I’ll be surprised if England dont pound Algeria hard in all honesty. Lot of unhappy sassenachs in the British Isles.

Englands problem is that they know the media and fans will be on their case big style over the slightest fuck up. The fear rips right out them especially during the big tourneys. Lack of confidence is Englands biggest problem IMHO. Regardless I hope they get absolutely fucking trounced.

i agree, but you’re not really helping your case by calling it “footy.” that sounds silly.
Trust me, with a broad northern (england) accent, it sounds right at home. I can see why it would sound silly to your lot but then again, you’re the nation that call it soccer!
The word soccer was invented in England in the late 1880’s, likely a derivative of “association”, anyway my observations.
Brazil-top favorites, I have always rooted for Brazil, as someone who played for about 15 years it’s hard not to appreciate the beautiful game
England-fuck England, you’ve won one( very questionable) cup in the sport you invented. The reason EPL is great is largely not due to British players, fuck Rooney that whiney balding cunt. All that said that squad has talent, but does’nt play well enough as a team to win it all
Portugal-My mother is half French and half Portuguese, and I spent part of my childhood in both so I’m a bit torn. I don’t think this is Portugal’s year they look too tentative
France-ces’t merde. disappointing, and they are not going anywhere
Italy-not as good as they were last Cup, still awful to watch and I doubt you will win another one with cheap fouls and diving.
Germany-looks very good, I think they have an excellent chance
Netherlands-see above, ditto. I think Germany is better though
US-in 12 years, much as I hate to say it. We got raped by a referee today, that did’nt help. the US will get there one day
Argentina-Very talented up front, a bit shaky in the back. On a side note, I detest Maradonna. That said, they have a decent chance.

England are shit.

France are most definitely shit. Portugal can fuck off too.

Is anyone watching Eng v Algeria? We’re a nation of chronic underperformers in most sports that we invent.

Yes.

Are you drunk yet?

I am gently tranquilized by an Italian beer.

Not that I needed it: the game is such a downer so far.

The USA game gave me more excitement.

am drunk!! wooo

Well, thanks for that. lol.

Alpha - this is worrying me. We look utterly toothless.

BTW do you do BJJ at all? Sorry to lump that stereotype on you - I did some in London before my injuries and all I can say is:

 1. Brazilians are generally hilarious/crazy
 2. Brazilian women are especially genetically gifted.

That blown call by the ref in the US game still has me scratching my head. I would really like to know what he saw. I saw two bear hugs being applied to two US players and some light jostling and hand checking in the rest of the line. It’s like he was pre-set on blowing the whistle against the US. Would Instant replay work if it was instituted only for plays in the box where everyone is stacked up?

V

England is the land of the mediocre. Our flag should be a grey square.

I couldn’t have put it better.
No. Too violent for that, :)…my parents kept me in the pool…I was a butterfly swimmer.
3. True

 4. True, though I am biased.

I am honestly dreading the second half.

England, ROONEY, has got to wake UP.

At least one goal. The princes are watching.

C’MON ENGLAND.

I need to get drunk. This game is SHIT.

They need to get Heskey off. Rooney won’t fire this way. Gerrard should’ve done better with that ball that he pulled back.

…we just missed a great opportunity…are the team drunk as well?

It’s pathetic, Algeria is outplaying them every step of the way.

Rooney seems dead…has just lost control of the ball twice in the penalty area!

He is completely powerless.

What happened?!?

No idea… their passing is just horrible, and they keep losing the ball.
