Workout Routine

We all have our favorite routine based on experience. The question is does it cross over when “on?”

I’m trying to reason this out and hope any vets would chime in.

With an increased ability for recovery, does it not influence a body part split guy to look into a full body routine? That is, if said guy doesn’t have the time to do two-a-days. And… instead of three days a week, go five, maybe six days and train the specific muscles you can feel are ready for another go.

I know it’s preference most times that influence what any particular guy does in the gym. With super powers, do the rules change?

I guess the biggest fear is, if you work your chest out once a week, primarliy because you have to fit everything else in, are you holding yourself back from maximal progress?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For one reason or another, when I am on cycle, I respond much better to some style of HIT. Off cycle however, I am all about the volume.

Running a high dose, short schedule cycle right now and have recently started DC. Definitely stepped up my gains.

Yes, the rules do change. Your actual workout should be based on your personal goals, but you may increase your volume considerably on cycle as the risk of overtraining is decreased while gains may be maximized.

Thanks World, Mousse. Much appreciated.

for me personally, think; training like arnold, when using up to 1g per week and eating 8000kcal a day.

now thats alo of training

For me, no two workouts are the same, since I train instinctively, based on levels of muscle soreness from the last session Vs goals for this session (movement patterns) Vs longterm goals.

Also, I haven’t been totally off for a long time now, however back when I did cycle off, I remember that I used to train with a lot more volume which cost me bigtime.

Psychologically, when not on steroids, I need the ‘reassurance’ of extra sets, etc to convince me that I am still growing.

Paradoxically, I think.

Bushy, just to clarify - regardless of goals vs instinctive method of training - while on cycle any added volume did not cost you, correct?

I’m certainly not a vet, but here goes…

I think that you should stick to the same program/style on and off cycle. The reason being that your training sessions will be self-regulating.

For instance, when “on”, you are stronger (obviously), so you progress faster with the same program, providing better results.

Theoretically that’s fine. But you’ve got a golden opportunity to increase your intensity much easier and that easily attained added intensity will probably lend itself to more volume which will not hurt your program.
