I love working out at home. Same reasons as above.
Only thing I wonder is feedback on form/execution type stuff. Never trained until 42 yrs old, and only alone.
Any gyms in area would be alot of commute time also.

I go both ways.
In the summer I prefer to be outside in the sunshine.
In the winter I like having a place to go for fellowship and camaraderie outside of my own home.
The main factor for a home gym is convenience but I lack all the equipment I really want.
I do both. My home gym is pretty well set up (rack, good flat bench, DBs up to 105, prowler, tractor tire, pulldown/cable row, dip/pullup bar, lots of plates, punching bag, etc) and I use it at least once a week, 3-4 if you count prowler work. The “commercial” gym I go to is probably the best equipped powerlifting gym in PA. I go there MWF.
The atmosphere at home is loud music and yelling (by me), and the atmosphere at the commercial gym is like 10-15 huge guys moving sick amounts of weight. It doesn’t really matter what’s on the radio in that scenario.
I do like doing arms and shoulders at home so I can lift shirtless and stare at myself in the mirror. I’m totally gay for myself.
I can see it being an expensive habit having a home gym too
When you see a new or cool bit of kit as a gym user the thought is something like “shame my gym doesn’t have that” or “I wish we had one of those in our gym”
Where as a home gym user its more like “I want one of those” which leads to potential spending lol.
