People bitching over cargo’s, really?

My goodness, people are such babies these days. I think there are two entire generations out there that must have gotten babied to death by their parents. Just go get yourself a pair of shorts, tshirt and sneakers and go workout.
Or, the other alternative is to dress like a retard, and when a gym employee tells you you have to go, lay down on the floor, start crying, and screaming that you are not leaving, and when they try to pick you up, refuse to put your feet on the floor. Dont push it too far though, you might get a timeout.
While I tend to disagree with your view point on this particular subject, I like your attitude.
But dude, your friends list is kind of creeping me out. I’m not sure I want you in the upper percentile.
Ha!! For the record, my friends list creeps me out too, but being a heterosexual male, I am not willing to do anything about it.
Also for the record, I have been a member of all sorts of gyms. Some places, my favorites by the way, anything goes, some others, like my current gym, are a little more fluffy. They have tons of equipment, but they are far from anything goes, complete with dress codes, no dropping of weight rules, no use of chalk allowed, etc. Now I could complain about all these things, but I knew all that before I joined.
So what do I do? I abide by the rules of the place I voluntarily joined. My workout attire usually consists of a tshirt, shorts and sneakers. And surprisingly, I am usually working out much harder than the two guys shadow boxing and play wrestling each other in front of the mirrors.
On a side note, I recently went to the public library in my town, and can you believe they had a problem with me talking on my cell phone in there???
why would they be bent out of shape over the boots? if anything they are safer than tennis shoes, and provide a lot more ankle stability. If one of the putzes who works at my gym (24) ever had the nuts to come tell me i’m dressed inappropriately, I’d tell him to call the police, and continue my workout.

Exactly. I recently received a seven day trial period at x-fitness near where I live. I was interested in joining because it’s 24/7. However, when I was deadlifting, not only was I told that I am not aloud to drop the weights so heavily (heavy weights don’t NOT make noise when you set them down), but I was also told that I needed to get a pair of sneakers. At the time I was training in an old pair of Vans. I told the employee that indeed I was a real hazard and that he should do something about it. The employee did nothing and I continued lifting there for the rest of the week.
I mean, how would they describe their situation to the authorities? The police would get there and be like WTF are we doing at a gym, this is the opposite of eating donuts.

There is a dress code in gyms now? I wear whatever the fuck I want and tell them I pay to workout here and not dress for sucess or some other corportate slogan bullshit!
Exactly! I can understand a sign with the ususal “Any clothing, which is considered profane, obscene, suggestive, morbid, or displays violence, drugs or alcohol, is prohibited.” But cargo shorts that is getting a bit ridiculous.
What’s wrong with profane clothing (or morbid for that matter)? A gym is not a professional environment, I can understand clothes that damage the equipment being banned but why the hell is the content of someones shirt an issue?
Well, most gyms or “fitness centers” have a very broad client base and are not going to tolerate a guy wearing a shirt with “Fuck You” on it. As other clients are going to have a problem with it. Now, a budlight t-shirt is one thing but a shirt with “The top 10 reasons to get drunk” would be another all together. I am not saying one is right and the other is wrong but there are varying degrees to which that facility is going to enforce what ever their policy is. I had just never heard of the cargo shorts rule.
However, if you work out in a hardcore gym no one is going to care anyway.

Ive kicked lots of people out for that exact reason, its all about the rivets on the outside of the cargos. Same thing with jeans, as long as people don’t do sit on any equipment I let it go though.
I had a guy that wanted to bench press in jeans and went I told him he couldnt he started to take them off right there because he said he was just gonna bench in his boxers which are “exactly” like shorts.
I let him know that they in fact are not, and that I really didnt want to have to see his junk coming out of the front of those and that he needed to leave right now and not enter the rec for the rest of the day.
People are really really stupid.
have you ever bench pressed before? or seen a pair of jeans?
jeans generally dont have rivets on the back of them, as it wouldnt be comfortable to sit on them. therefore, taking one’s knowledge of a bench press, how the fuck are the rivets on jeans going to hurt the bench?
i can also think of 4 pairs of cargo shorts that i own, theres not a damn rivet on any of them!
(by the way, the cargo im carrying could be anything really, but at the least: car keys, cell phone, work blackberry; enough that id look like a pretty big tool having it all bulging out of my front pockets)
you need to stop kicking people out of the gym for bullshit like that. thats a blatant power trip if ive ever heard of one.
I do not write the rules, the university does.
You really think its weird I asked him to leave when he wanted to workout in his boxers ?

fuck the uni’s rules. not only are you being a prick and enforcing that stupid shit, but youre actually buying into that BS. go back and read what you said about “it’s the rivets…”
then go check all your jeans and/or cargo shorts and find some rivets on the back of them that are going to ruin the benches.
the guy that took his pants off to bench in his boxers probably did it to show you just how much he did not respect you, after telling him to leave because of the pants he was wearing.
if you went around the gym and got involved with people, shot the shit with them, spotted them, offered helpful advice to those that either asked or clearly needed it, etc, etc, i am sure that no one at the university is going to come down on you for making it a more positive and safe atmosphere.

Are you kidding me?
You’re telling him to risk losing his job to get internet cool points because people are too fucking stupid to wear gym shorts to the gym?
Really?

Exactly. I hate when people tell me that. “oh, I’ve been doing this for a while no one has stopped me”.
Yeah? Well, I’m saying it now, follow the rules. people can be assholes sometimes.
I haven’t seen someone wear cargo shorts in a looooooong time…

The rivets press into the pad, and it tears them. Replacing pads is not cheap.

boots trap a lot of dirt/mud moreso than other foot attire. That is the reason

The rivets or metal things whatever you want to call them most definitely get pressed into the pads and they can be like razors to a pad.
btw- I don’t enforce the jeans rule, I simply ask them to wear workout attire next time.

like i said- go look at a pair of your jeans. i dont think youll find rivets on the back of them. none of my jeans have them on the back. maybe its just the brand i wear though, as you guys seem pretty set on these rivets on the back destroying benches. im pretty much wearing all american eagle jeans because a friend gets them at employee discount, AND they fit over my squat ass, although the clothes in there are getting slimmer (gayer) and slimmer (gayer).

JB’s one of the coolest guys on this site. I doubt he’s a prick in enforcing the rules.
One thing that jumps out at me, is how unsurprising it is that the Ct. got kicked out and is now bitching. Ever notice how the guys that are always bitching and whining online and having people tell them they suck online and are convinced people are following them online are often also incapable of getting along and following rules in real life?
No one’s gotten a hand job in cargo shorts since Nam
