not much to say about the lifting, everything was pretty ok. Maybe a little heavy for the purpose on the bench.
Farmers walks with real comp spec handles haha. Absolutely love em. 60kg is not a bad start with those. I did a fair bit more back in the day at PTC powerlifting gym. Now looking for a yoke frame also . Damn you Dan John, damn you.
165x5
180x5 (first two reps with a full double overhand grip, for a PB with 180). Come the 6 singles day in a few days time, I might max out the grip…see where it lands.
Pullups:
106.8x5
106.8x5
Loaded Carry of the day:
Suitcase Carry: 40kg x 20 x 2 each arm. No rest.
20m, change hands, etc. I’m getting stronger at those…felt easier than the 30kg walks I’ve done previously.
Notes:
Bench felt nice. Saw no need to go heavier today.
Squats felt great too, a slight bump in the bottom weight, so didn’t see a need to increase the top one, and it felt easy in any case. Feeling really good now. Not too much longer and I think I can move this up quite a bit more.
Deadlift was Great. Felt super light. The 180 was easy also…very nearly went for a third rep with the double overhand grip, but I wasn’t confident, so quickly mixed the grip and smoked the final three reps. All back pain in completely gone from deadlifting now. Not a single iota of it. This bodes well for the rest of the year, still unwilling to rush it.
Pullups felt a bit meh. Felt heavier than normal. Maybe a bit of fallout from the previous sessions…weighted pullups are a weird thing, the fatigue sneaks up on you Quickly.
Carries were awesome. They are honestly my favourite thing right now. I think I feel stronger just because I’m doing those. I walk around feeling stronger…everything else in daily life just feels…Easy. Throwing the kid around, yard work etc, all feels way easier.
Bench was excellent. 102.5kg feeling as easy as 90 did a few weeks ago.
Squats were great also. Felt like I didn’t do enough at all. Haha. That’s the point.
Deadlift felt a little heavy, so left it at 165 for both. Still easy. But probably slower than the 180 yesty.
Pullups felt good…but a little hard, so dropped it back.
How Good are Carries? Love em. 80kg each hand was a little harder than expected, but still great. Sandbag again next session.
Hands are feeling unstoppable, body feeling pretty bloody good, too to be fair. Do have plantar faciaitis in my left foot… literally my only ailment. I’ll take it.
Been a rough week. I thought I was sick again…but it was allergies, and they kicked my butt up and down the week, interfering with my sleep. Never had them this bad before in my life…new doc thinks Allergic Rhinitis. That I’ve been told before. Trying a new anti-histamine tablet I’ve not used before. See how that goes. I slept well last night, so back into the garage.
Last session was the tonic session, forgot to log it. Everything is 1x10 light and easy…
Kept things on the minimum end today as felt a bit sluggish, which seems to be the norm currently when I take more than 2-3 days off training, so to be expected, just rolled with it and got in quality reps. Pushed the Suitcase carry a little harder than last time. Felt quite good again by the time id finished up, a positive.
End of week 4 tomorrow, 5-3-2 day. See how that feels aye.
15kg each now. Probably about full grown I think as progress has stalled for probably a month. A good size pair of dogs I think!
Training is going well, too. Shadow has excellent recall already…Winter is so damn Husky like, is so stubborn. If anything, she knows all her commands better than Shadow does, but stops to consider whether the outcome of Each command has value to her In that moment
Squats were strongest this period id suggest. Really happy with them today.
Deadlifts were feeling easy as…then felt something in my lumbar region on rep 2 of set 2…didn’t seem like an issue after the set at all. But I could feel…something in there when I twisted side to side. Loaded up 210kg anyway because the video of 200 looked Very easy. It was Glued to the floor… definitely was a nervous system blockage preventing me from lifting it. I did feel a bit tight all day through the hips and knees, so could very well be Nothing but some Psoas tightness and what not from having a few days off. See how it feels tomorrow.
pullups were easy…
no loaded carry as ran short on time, had a family dinner to get to and I worked a little later than I had planned today. Tomorrow is a rest day, don’t see why I can’t do a carry session instead.
Not sure if this is still a problem for you (with my personal experience with it, I assume yes) but I was at our local running store yesterday and one of the workers told me you should roll your calf out. Said a tight calf can pull on the fascia and cause the pain. Just thought I would share in the chance that you haven’t tried this.
Yeah I do a lot of that actually, plus the tibialis also, which can be… interesting. I do a lot of tib raises also. Worth your time getting a tib bar from mr infinity!
Just looked that piece of equipment up. It looks like a baby leg curl attachment. It’s so cute. On a serious note, I didn’t even know that was a thing. Thanks for the tip.
