Wisey's Training Log - StrongEveryDay

Trained lighter yesterday. Just an easy squat session before heading for a dinner with the lads. Really squeezed for time with work again all week…then I forgot I was going out, and only had about 30 minutes to get something done. So squats it was.

Notes:

  • They felt a bit rushed, because they were lol. My warmup is a bit extensive, but it’s working great for my hips and knees and whatnot, so I just can’t skip it. I guess you could say today paraphrasing Dan John, that the warmup was the workout.
  • good enough.
  • Had one of the best meals out I’ve had in a little bit. Ordered a NY strip steak, and asked the kitchen to add a couple of fried eggs, a bowl of prawns (shrimp stateside I guess), and an homemade style creamy sauce that I knew the chef made fresh and with good ingredients. Was an amazingly simple yet Greatly satisfying meal! Chef (if you haven’t figured out by know, is a mate of mine :joy:), must have found his largest cut of NY, too :joy:. Also gave me 4 eggs Atleast 8 prawns lol. This all cost 25 bucks. (Nothing here for that amount of food). Knowing me well, he held the chips and gave me two garden salads also :joy:. Of which I dumped the remaining creamy sauce into. He also got us a free round of whisky…we nearly turned that into a big night :joy:, but thankfully a few of us were working the next morning.
  • Have another social event at 4pm today, so will need to watch the time again so I get some work in before we leave…back to work I go…

Absolutely Wild two days with what can only described as the worst sore throat I’ve ever experienced. Viral infection apparently.

I keep looking around for the bugger inserting a hot knife into my throat.

Havn’t slept well for two nights now. In hindsight, I saw it coming Friday. Paracetamol and Ibuprofen proving next to useless. Living on warm Honey and Lemon :joy:. Only thing that provides any relief…doc reckons 3-4 days. So I’ve probably got Atleast one more shitty night ahead.

Fk mate hope you are getting better. I have had a few throat issues in the past and it is the worst type of pain.

Weighed in this morning at a staggering 108kg.

Impossible…I was 104.2 only Friday. That’s a wild amount of water weight for a virus lol. I havn’t eaten crazy, just normal… maintenance cals as usual when I sick. Plenty of veges. Plenty of protein. Etc.

Feeling bloody a lot better tonight! Throat is calming down, probably 90% better tonight to be honest. Havn’t taken a drug for about 10 hours either…about to dose up hopefully for the last time just to try and guarantee sleep tonight. I reckon a good 9 hours should fix me right up.

Not happy with getting sick…but very happy with the seemingly easy turnaround.

108kg though…maybe I received a super serum while sick? Haha.

Had intended on traning light yesterday…
Ended up working from 0800 to 0000…Yep. All day and evening.

Hit with a huge wave of work. I like these situations. But they be Busy.

Maaan. What a week and a half!

Worked 12 days in row…Long, long hours. A few 2am finishes…

Absolutely cooked. Have had time to really train properly. Just some small maintenance sessions here and there. And of course the dog walking.

Got the job Done. Not that I doubted the team…

Took Monday off and spent it with the kid as I felt bad! Then decided to do the same today. Couple of good park visits and mini hikes, and it’s 6pm already and I haven’t trained again :joy:.

Single parenting is rough!! Wife away for a week enjoying a well earned girls trip to the cook island, added an extra layer of complexity haha. But it is what it is, the Barbell will be right there when I am ready, which will be tomorrow because School returns :joy:.

Notes:

  • Need to stretch a lot. Hips so damn sore, it hurt. Took a long while to get things working properly for the squat, but I didn’t give in.
  • The squats felt off the whole time :joy:. Standard for me after even a small break…I kept the loads low, just greasing them. Same for deadlift. Incidentally, deadlift felt fine.
  • CBF’d with anything else, hooked up the Mutts and headed off.
  • Came home to find the neighbor on my front lawn freaking out over a snake sighting :joy:. A red belly black snake (venomous of course being Australia, but less murderous than other breeds). She’d found it sitting on her front porch…and it slid into her front garden behind a wall. I found it funny. I couldn’t find it…left her sitting on her porch watching and waiting :joy:. Apparently she waited a full two hours :joy:. I grew up with snakes everywhere, I respect them but I don’t at all fear them lol.
  • Bench tomorrow.
