COLD WAR ROUND 2. Honorary Merican fan for the day. Back to business next week! Where did the game go? I swear they cut it after the second period. WTF!!! I heard that the speed skating team peaked at the wrong time with training and intensity. Iunoo though you think they would have figured that out beforehand. That chinese girl is on adderal for sure. Hear she’s going to be a corner on the seahawk’s next year.[/quote]
It was nice while we had you as an Honorary Merican. Come back anytime
Good work neighbours!!! Way to beat them Russkies!!! I’ll bet anything this was exactly the reason Oshie was brought over ie. his shoot out prowess. I just hope Russia isn’t knocked out before we get to play them. This result will set the States up for an easy route to the semis. Could very well be another Canada-US final which would be much to the chagrin of the Euro teams who are constantly whining that NOrth Americans can’t play on the big ice-surface. This is the final I’m hoping for.
Yeah I agree, that was awesome couldn’t have asked for a better game, finally a solid matchup. I hope that the nhl one day stops going for just profit and clues in the the bigger ice surface is the way to go. Better skaters, more finesse less injuries, I do like the contact involved in the sport but nhler’s simply are to big for the small nhl rinks. North americans are the best hockey players in the world, it’s a mindset difference.
Oshie in Sochi!!!

I totally agree about the bigger ice surface. I don’t normally watch hockey unless the Stars are in the Cup finals. But, this was a very exciting game to watch. I’m sure a lot had to do with USA vs Russia, but it seemed to go by at a fast pace and was never boring IMO.
The skeleton is an interesting one if you like the ladies, they are all pretty hot in an athletic way. It has some crossover with other sports particularly Olympic lifting. Basically you have to be athletic and good at other sports before being invited to try out for that one since its kind of an odd activity you wouldn’t normally do.

I watched some of that. Pretty cool, head first at 70-80mph would be a major adrenaline rush

Oshie is a legit player not just in the shootout. Watch a Blues game some time you’ll see some amazing plays.

Every player on the top 4-5 teams is a “legit player”. They wouldn’t be considered if they weren’t. However, Oshie is a noted shoot out specialist, perhaps the best in the NHL at it. In a short tournament where games will be close and are often decided in a shoot out, I’m sure his skills in this area weighed heavily in the decision to include him. As is evidenced by his multiple shots in the shoot out, it is obvious Team USA has made the decision to live or die by Oshie in such a situation. To bypass players like Kane, Kessel and Parise in the later shoot out rounds simply proves where Oshie’s true value to this team lies.

I respectfully disagree. I doubt when they were putting their team together they were considering who is good in a shootout or not. They don’t go into games planning on going to shootout.
I love the downhill skiing.

I respectfully, respectfully disagree. I think they most definitely do prepare for shoot outs. Just as they prepare for being on the penalty kill. That’s why they and every other team practice them. Not wanting to be in a situation is no reason for not being prepared for that eventuality. And when the decision to leave guys such as Bobby Ryan and Kyle Okposo off the team who, at least at the time of selection were having better seasons than Oshie, I think this definitely entered into the decision. However, it doesn’t look like either of us is going to convince the other of our opinions so I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree.
There’s that Merican Milf who does skeleton. Mrs. Pikus-Pace, she’s super fine.

Anna Sidorova, the Russian skip, in her post-game lounge wear. Damn. What a gorgeous face and smokin’ bod. That, right there, is superior genetics.
She appears to be from a long line of women who spent much of their time on their knees.
Curling is a great sport indeed.
