Shawn White choked badly last night. He did not medal, losing to a Russian and 2 Japanese snowboarders. He looks like a guy who smoked too much pot for way too long.
Also, the Russians cannot construct an icy halfpipe worth a shit.[/quote]
Im glad he lost, he seems like a douche and allegedly was out partying the night before the comp.

Icy half pipes are the work of the devil. Nice tightly packed that you can get a quick edge on are the shiznit. Mashed potato is a sluggish bummer.

Years ago I gave Hayley Wickenheiser (who carried the flag for Canada in the opening ceremonies) a spot while she was doing bench.

Straining my memory here, it was ages ago . . . it was between 1 and 2 plates a side, I want to say 185ish maybe? For 4-6ish reps or something, it was her last set of bench I think and she made it clear she wanted me to make her suffer through a couple reps at the end haha.
Couple guys I used to wrestle with are over in Sochi as support staff, one as a therapist and another as a strength coach. Another guy I know is a strength coach for some of the speed skaters but he didn’t make the trip. Met one of the bobsledders when I was out for all you can eat ribs with the guys a while back, and it turns out he’s dating a girl I know from wrestling, and I think she was going over to volunteer or something. When I used to work at a bar a couple years back we had to kick out three or four bobsledders (I don’t think anybody in Sochi right now though) because they were mooning people in the bar. They thought it was hilarious, and I was also amused but it wasn’t my call to make haha.
Zetterberg is out due to a herniated disc in his back for the rest of the Olympics! That’s really going to hurt the Swedes. First Franzen, then Henrik Sedin an now Z. They simply don’t have the depth to replace those guys, especially with natural centers.

Screw the Swedes it is really going to hurt the Wings.

Very true! First Datsyuk and now Z. Now all they need is for an errant puck to hit Mike Babcock between the eyes on the bench and they are truly screwed!
I went to high school with Jessica Smith who is competing in speedskating. Looks like all the USA speedskaters are having a pretty tough time at these olympics.

I’ve been surprised at how the US speed skaters have fared as well. They came on so strong in 2010, it seemed like they had announced their arrival as a new speed skating powerhouse (especially the men). But, this year, so many of them have faltered. And, as always, the Dutch are still kicking everyone’s asses.
Check out a clip of the jap kid who won gold in the figure skating.
I know nothing about the sport but some of the sequences he pulled off were just unreal. Almost like a computer game even.

They’re saying it’s the new underarmour suits they’re wearing.

That’s interesting about the suits. It makes sense though, since the difference between 1st and 10th can be as little as a few tenths of a second, I guess a little extra friction could account for it. Seems like a major oversight; I’d guess some heads will role as a consequence.

His short program was literally the best ever skated, as reflected in the world record score for it. However, Hanyu really laid an egg in the free skate. I thought Chan’s free skate program was much cleaner than his and that he should have won the gold for it. However, as a Canadian, I am probably a little bit biased towards wanting Chan to win. I guess silver is still pretty good though, especially from a guy who is on par with Greg Norman for choking when the stakes are biggest.
COLD WAR ROUND 2. Honorary Merican fan for the day. Back to business next week! Where did the game go? I swear they cut it after the second period. WTF!!! I heard that the speed skating team peaked at the wrong time with training and intensity. Iunoo though you think they would have figured that out beforehand. That chinese girl is on adderal for sure. Hear she’s going to be a corner on the seahawk’s next year.
