So after dinner I got it into my head that I’d have a crack at the 20 rep deadlift in the hopes that gravity had dialed back a bit. It hadn’t but I didn’t do too badly going into it pretty much cold especially since we trained heavy doubles in the morning.
It wasn’t quite 20 (Sorry Steely) It worked out to 19 + 2. I couldn’t get it off the floor on the 20th and had to reset. So it was 235 for 21 total reps at 134 bodyweight. I went with Push’s calculations of 1.75xbw.
I also talked BB into doing it. He is bw 165 and did 290lbs. He’s not a real rep king and ended up at 10+3+2+2+2+3. He didn’t want to go past 10 but you can hear me saying “Come on sweetie, treat each rep like a single” He’s a good sport.

Pfft- close enough-- 19+2 = 21. Not like you took a huge rest. Call that a “DC R/P 20”

Great job!
Push did up the ante in this thread. I rather see people attempt heavier weight, even if falling just short of 20, than dozens of videos of body weight deads and squats.
The dead and bench sounds OK but squats seem really dangerous for the back unless they are front squats. That’s how you throw out your back for a good while; forcing it to take all the load with terrible ‘good morning’ form.

I think it depends on the individual. I’ll do 20 with squat and bench, but I won’t do 20 deadlifts of any significant weight.
Here’s another for the failheap: 335x19. Next week I may try again but add more weight as punishment for sucking. And have someone count for me. That would be the most important part.

Squat in army boots before you squat in running shoes again.
You will destroy 215 next time, no doubt.

Noted. Squatted in aqua-booties today (thin flat sole, no squish, good grip)

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. I went back today, gave it another go, and made it. I weighed in at 214 this time, so either I made it because I had 1 less pound to squat, or I’m awesome because instead of 1xBW I did 1.005xBW. Either way, the mind is the strongest muscle involved in this challenge.
Much respect to all of the badasses laying down in this thread too! Some very impressive lifts going on.

I guess if it’s just w/e you can do for 20 reps I don’t really think any are bad, but when I think of widowmaker DC style(isn’t it 8rm for 20?) it makes me not want to even consider benching; probably some bias because I’ve had 2 shoulder surgeries. Not that there’s anything wrong with just doing the bench challenge as combine style repping out.
