Wow, guess the T-Nation staff didn’t like my last one, it disappeared! We all know your pissed just cause you wish you were one.

It took a few pages of replies, but I think, just maybe, that we isolated why everyones always “pickin’” on you. I read your deleted post and that was a much better example of why others in the gym might not be overly freindly towards you.
Nobody picks on me really, I just liked the title. Some guys just aren’t very friendly. Actually didn’t expect any replies either, boy was I wrong. I was only having some fun here before, you can’t think that I’m serious from my posts, and you having seen the deleted one should know even better.

I know you Scots have a sense of humor - I lived in Dundee for 5 months after Cork before jumping to Italy. But now everybody really is pickin on me in this thread (well only 2 or 3) and it’s really botherin me, I think I’m going to quit lifting weights and just kill myself.

By the way, I want to take the chance to apologize on behalf of the entire United States for the Mel Gibson statue in Stirling. I’m sorry.

I did find it kinda funny that the thread was titled as it was, you make it sound like you’re the only guy that weighs more than 100 pounds in your gym.

As for the statue, it’s cool, least he deserves after he won those battles for us… Fucking English… Always picking on the little guys…

Well, I’m definitely the only guy more than a buck 50, that’s for sure. It’s spanish genetics vs. my english I guess…

Maybe the OP smells bad???

Or is paranoid?

Who knows.

EVERYONE in the gym is mean to me. Which is scary, since I workout at home. Alone. Stop typing bitch! awwwwwwwwwwww make me some pancakes

I don’t care if USA is a real ass of a country, if an American goes overseas and is polite and a reasonable person then they deserve to be treated with respect not treated as if they were personally responsible for U.S stupid behaviour. NOTE that is an entirely hypothetical paragraph, my point is, every person deserves to be treated with respect not prejudice, unless that person is personally being a jerk.

Wukey, I’d be surprised if any developed country didn’t have protectionist policies like that. The ones on agriculture are the worst though; if those where gone it’s estimated developing countries would get 3 times what they’re currently getting in national aid in the form of profits.

electric_eales, the Middle East is a big place, with some rather different countries in it. Like everywhere else I’ve been in the world, the Americans who get treated like douchebags are the ones who have the loud, “I’m an American, hear me roar” sort of attitude overseas and I’d say they have a lot to do with the view that this sort of thing is common of Americans. The majority who just act normal though will be treated well. Just like how Eurotrash wankers are treated like crap and reflect poorly on the majority of Europeans.

Your right, fuck this shit, no more mr nice guy. I’m goin in tomorrow, shock n awe style, and could be there for a very. long. time.

Now THAT is a snappy answer. Kudos!

OP, did you bother learning the local languages of those places? Just something to think about…
I always make an effort to learn the languages, that’s one of the reasons I travel! Only thing that sucks is that when I change the country, after a few months I can hardly speak the language of the previous country. I thought it would stick with me longer than that, live and learn I guess. But I can still understand, and especially read them with little problems.

Haven’t made it to Sweden yet, one day I’ll be there though. I think this is one country where I wouldn’t have to bother learning the language, or I am wrong? Good school system there…

While Texasguy has taken the intellectual approach to convincing others that America is great(and doing a damn good job of it), Mazilla has taken the offensive approach, and being hilarious. Kudos to both of you.

Europe still thinks they matter? Once other countries start putting more pices in the middle eas to get a stranglehold on oil, how are the greedy european countries going to manage. Without their union they are small, puny, and unintimidating.

Oh great, youre in this thread. Why dont you go beat up some freshman.

Heres the thing: Europe DOES matter. A whole hell of a lot. No other countries are going to throw their chips in in the middle east. Do you know why? Because they are smarter than us and realize that that is a bundle of trouble that wont be going away in the next century or so. If you know that an issue is avoidable, then why get involved? It seems like a good decision to me to avoid taking part in an enormously complicated conflict that will only end with you spending billions (possibly trillions in the long run) of dollars in order to accomplish little more than a “moral” victory over people who are only pissed off because you shit in their grits in the first place.

Lets look at economic power for a minute. The Euro is by far stronger than the US$ as is the English pound. Europe has managed to unite itself under the EU and, unlike the US and our AMERICA FUCK YEAH attitude, have actually figured out how to work together to better all of them.

And as far as Texasguy’s “good job” and “intellectual approach”, I am saddened. I wonder how many of you have taken a history course beyond the tenth grade. I already addressed this.

It is quite interesting to listen to people talk about how greatest nations are defined but such qualities like “Who controls what percentage of what market,” and “who has the biggest army”.
Explains why our world is so fucked.
I am Canadian, and I like United states as much as I like Canada and I have always considered us friends. But to say United states is the greatest country in the world…?? What are these facts based on? I don’t mean to be insulting or ignorant but any country that has George Bush for president and allows him to pass such bullshit like the patriot act doesn’t sound like the greatest country to me. United States WAS the greatest country, when people in the United states actually gave a shit about freedom, now they are just trading their freedom for a false sense of security because what CNN says on TV scares them. How UNAmerican.

Just for the record I can’t stand CNN. I literally get sick at watching any of those Alphabet chanels. I prefer to get my information from conservative websites and talk shows. That way I know I’m getting a biased right wing opinion. Non of that euro liberal leftist crap. Those guys are nuts!

“It is wasnt”???

Homosexual terrorists anal raping?

Where are these terrorist from? I do believe that the US is now the target for the majority of terrorists in the world and has recently suffered the worst ever single terrorist attck.

If you want to pull out the old chesnut of how the US entered the 2nd world war (4 years late) and helped us win it, then can we discuss who built the US in the first place and where the original seetlers came from? who provided the steel for the rail roads the slaves to build them, the ships to transport the goods the engineers, the guns and ammunition to shoot the natives? I think you will find most of it came from Europe dude.

So sending over Private Ryan was the least you could do, anyway most of the American GI’s hung around in the UK shagging our grannies, what a bit of chocolate and nylon tights will get ya hey

Maz I love the fact you are patriotic and love your country it is a great nation of yours but all I was trying to explain is that if you travel abroad with that atitude your not going to be very welcome in many places nowadays mate.

peace.

I was hoping to get round to this point, I wanted to establish that the British empire at one point being a massive super power in the world, and then purposfully contradivt myself to show that greatness should not be measured by power or money. Britain was not actually a “great” nation as it introduced the slave trade and invaded many countires for their natural resources.

The US has a massive economy, one of the largest armies, certainly the best equipped army, its culture of cheeseburgers, over priced coffee and denim clothing is sweeping the globe, but does this make the US great or the greatest nation of all time?

Again it comes down to how you measure greatness I suppose

i agree Zap, your right, the suppression of free trade is enough for me to hang my head in shame, but lets not forget the current American polocies on protectionism of its steel and automotive industries as well as their agricultural subsidies. Perhaps its time for these industries to go east, america can still make a good living on high tech industries.

I think Bush loosened some of the steel protectionism after Europe’s reaction but it still exists for government funded projects (at least in my state).

Japanese, Chinese and Korean protectionism is unreal but they never seem to get called on it. I have designed and sold engineered equipment that was shipped over there and it is unreal the bullshit they make you go through. And then they completely disassemble it to reverse engineer it. And then they put it back together wrong and try to make warranty claims.
Good point, and well made. Perhaps a great many nations need to change some policies.

Another reason we’re so great is the music. We gave the world Elvis

If i were you i’d have kept quiet about that one, i know he has a rather deluded following but come on now people, you’ve got to admit that even if at the time his music was good, now it just sounds shit and out of date and should be just left to die in the past where it belongs.

BRING IT ON ELVIS FANS!!

Why the hell would I keep quite about that one? Elvis was a badass. He tore shit up on stage and in the studio.

If you understood the history of Rock n Roll, which you don’t, you’d realize how influential and great Elvis was. Unfortunately the image most people have about him is his cheesy Vegas persona influenced by Liberachi. Sure he went down hill later, but he was something special in his earlier career, both with sound and image. His songs are still great and timeless. Believe it or not his guitar player, and fellow Sun Records recording artist, Carl Perkins (blue suede shoes), had a huge influence on British music (ex. the Beatles).

Billy Holiday and the Crickets, who was also directly influenced by Elvis, had a huge influence on British pop bands of the late 60’s. In fact the Beatles came up with their name because of the Crickets. The Beatles had no problem admitting this and granted they were a great band too, even though I like Pink Floyd better.

sorry but he will always be the fat guy who dances like hes having a stroke, dressed like a gay cruse entertainer and died having a huge shit.
There is no way back from shame like that, he might as well have been caught ‘conckers deap’ in a farmyard animal.
