As far as funny women go, I’ve met plenty.
As far as women not thinking you’re funny…ummmm
Most women like to laugh, if they’re not laughing around you, maybe you’re just not that funny.
Nothing personal, funny isn’t everything

Looks like you aren’t too funny either.

Yeah, first thing I thought of…
… the person who introduces himself by posting a joke that he then has to explain is complaining about other people not being funny.
OP, I’m guessing there is another reason that women aren’t laughing with you.

Well, he did say that Jewish women were not included in this.

Although there are different types of humor, and they DO at times seem to fall into place along gender lines, there’s no reason to believe that women can’t be funny. My wife is very witty, and can deliver lines that absolutely slash and burn a room (maybe because they come from someone who generally seems to be the sweetest person around). You need to meet different women…like Sarah Silverman, perhaps.
One of my favorite lines from Dorothy Sayers:
“The only sin that sex can commit is to be joyless. Love must lay down with laughter or it makes its bed in hell.”

I know comedy comes in different flavors and people have their preferences but Sarah Silverman? She is ABSOLUTELY NOT funny.
Have you seen her stand up, or just her comedy central show (which is painful to sit through)?
I have never seen a good female comedian, yet have seen dozens of great guys. Humor just isn’t a woman’s strong point.
Well, there are funny women ( I think Margaret Cho is hysterical) but I agree that women are, in general, not as funny as men. A lot of them can laugh at jokes, but when it comes to doing/saying funny things, it just doesn’t happen. Have not read the Hitchen’s article yet. I will get to it though.

THANK YOU. She has ALWAYS sucked. NEVER in my life have I even cracked a smile at her “material”.
I’m also sick of Wanda Sykes. The whole “white vs black” comedy has been beaten into the ground for too many years by untalented black comedians (with a few exceptions: Chris Rock, Dave Chappell, etc…) for her to try and put a female spin on it and try to reinvent it as fresh.
The female half of SNL is also included as being NOT funny at all.

I object to you mentioning chris rock as an exception to the rule.
Strongly object.
To all of my hecklers, each of whom bearing a striking resemblence to the piece of gum I scrapped off my shoe this morning:

I’ve never really noticed whether or not women are funny. I do know that how they react to a man’s attempts at being funny is based entirely on whether or not that man can fuck her. If a woman meets your attempt at humor with indifference, it means that you have absolutely no chance.
If she laughs at a funny joke, you have a chance. If she meets a funny joke with hostility, or comtempt, it means you have a chance. But if you make some stupid joke, a joke that is not funny at all, and she laughs her ass off, it means you’re in like Flynn.
An interesting if slightly depressing observation. On the one hand, knowing this one could fabricate a useful litmus test for gaging the notoriously indecipherable female. On the other, it also demonstrates how unimportant to women humor really is.

My wife laughed at a stupid joke my friend made. Should I beat up my friend or my wife, or both?

I thought he was good back in '97 or around then.
Anyways, moving on, anybody else notice alot of female comedians use what I like to call: “The Menstrual Schtick”? They try and make having a period the funniest damn thing in the world, and it NEVER works!

Watching old HBO comedy half hour tapes from the 80s and 90s really demonstrates this quite well. All the women comedians are terrible (most of the male comedians too actually, the show sucks in general), their material is all from a short list of topics; Men, Marriage, Menstruation. The 3 M’s of female comedy, and even looking back 10+ years into stand up these were done to death and not funny, I’m not sure if they expected time to revive these topics but it sure as hell didn’t.
Magnate wrote:

Agreed.
M. Cho is the antithesis of funny.
There are no funny female comedians. The top comedy writers and performers, actors etc, for decades have all, without exception, been male. Think of hit shows (or any show) in the last 40 years, North America, British, sketches, sit-coms, animation etc: all written by males. Hit comedy movies: written by a male.
Mind you, most male comedians are not funny. Some female comedians seem to resort to proving they can hold their own with the boys, which translates to getting as lewd, crass etc etc. But still not funny. Being funny professionally is tough, I guess.

The original post was referring, I believe, to social situations where the man and woman have met for the first time. I that case, it is totally valid - laughter from the woman indicates foreplay has begun. This only works for people who dont know each other, which makes sense when you think about it. I mean, if your wife wanted to fuck your friend she wouldnt have to give signs, at least not signs that are detectable, and would likely be the aggressor.
Ehh anyone else notice that this guy has had 4 relationships…and he looks to be about 30…
Maybe try findin’ some smart girls or changing your line of humor.

You’ve GOT to be kidding. It’s no wonder you’re in an orange prison jumpsuit, because your sense of humor is criminal.
There are plenty of funny women out there!
Some of you guys need to turn off the TV and computer and start interacting with real people.

I met a girl on Friday who tried to bring in 100kg of tobacco into the country and got arrested…now thats funny!
