What is your highest level of qualification in the field of economics?

Only he doesn’t. The decline of democracies into ochlocracy(mob rule) occurred in Mycenaean Greece and Rome and was documented by Plutarch, Polybius, Cicero and Machiavelli.
"During ochlocracy, according to Polybius, the people of the state will become corrupted, and will develop a sense of entitlement and will be conditioned to accept the pandering of demagogues. "
That was described by Polybius two thousand years ago. It seems to be a pretty fucking apt description of the United States to me.

The interview is an attempt to refute one of Hayek’s political theories not his economic theories. And it’s not Hayek’s theory anyway it’s borrowed from the theory of anacyclosis first developed by Plato and expounded upon by Aristotle, Polybius, Plutarch, Cicero and Machiavelli amongst others. Additionally, ideas should be judged on their merit not on the qualifications of their authors/proponents. I’m a great believer of the importance of education however cultural Marxist indoctrination and rote learning is a far cry from the trivium.

Yep. Plato’s five stages of government should be pretty well known.

Just because cause and effect are in a time frame you cannot grasp emotionally does not prove the link between the two wrong…
On the other hand, yeah, he is totally wrong, push the pedal to the metal please…
On a related note, FAvH never got a Nobel Price, Ludwig von Mises did, and deservedly so.
Friedrich August von Hajek had the honor of accepting it after putting some bells and whistles on some of von Mises theories.
That is because von Mises was not ecactly, how could one put this, conciliatory.
Even in death, he had to share his price with a marxist.
Bastards.

Then please revise the wiki entry to your version of history:
Note: 1974.
Gunnar Myrdal indeed!

Why does it matter? What is yours?

Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences (1974)
Does this not count?
‘If you want to win the Nobel peace prize, it helps if you are a mass murderer; if you want to win the economics Nobel prize, it is always of advantage if you have contributed to ruining various countries’
–Hans-Hermann Hoppe

Did he ask Milton Friedman?

No, but he certainly had Uncle Milt in mind.
Of course, the quote isn’t entirely accurate. I mean, they gave Obama the Peace Prize before he ever became a mass murderer.
