^hahaha @ gregron. I was just messing about Strong’s wheels. His physique is pretty damn good regardless.

Brick, always the voice of reason. I was pretty lean after a ill attempted low/no carb diet accompanied with a tut approach. I also lost muscle because my calories were way too low. However, I haven’t done any cardio since the beginning of the year. Lately I train 2 movements per session every other night for 30-35 minutes. I go back and forth between two antagonistic movements with very little rest. I have no time anymore so this is my solution.
I just like to get strong all hyped up. He is a good poster with factual data, but he tends to go over the edge sometimes as do I. I’m gonna try and get some pics tonight so I can put up or shut up.

I don’t know what you’re talking about man. My lack of super-alpha caveman dieting haas left my legs small and weak. They’re definitely not capable of squatting much weight…

How much does the bar shaped like that change the lift? (Outside of hand placement, lol)
I mean, what is the reason for it conceptually?
I have no idea what the fuck happened in this thread but it looks like a giant clusterfuck of jersey shore fans. To the OP this is a quick line from the paleo solution about legumes and dairy “What you will find are mechanisms eerily similar to grains: gut irritation, protease inhibitors, antinutrients, and inflammation.”

The reason I used it a lot when than photo was taken (last year) was because of the strain that my low bar placement puts on my shoulders.
That bar in particular weighs about 65 lbs and forces you to really stay tight, or else it swings like a mother fucker and throws you forwards. Being that I was using it to train around an injury, I can’t tell you what kind of comparison there really was to my squat with a straight bar.
Since this thread is already off topic, I feel like mentioning something since I keep reading about it and it annoys the hell out of me:
If you’re on the paleo diet, trying to eat the way we were meant to eat as cavemen, then you shouldn’t be consuming any supplement, especially protein powders, as these are totally foreign substances as far as the human body is concerned.
Likewise, you shouldn’t be eating every 3 hours, or having any pre workout nutrition, as cavemen did not likely have any nourishment before the daunting task of hunting food.

Also be sure to mix in some dirt and grime into your food. In cavemen times they didn’t have the same sort of cleaning processes we have today. Your body likely won’t be able to absorb any nutrients without adequate soil.
Also be sure to kill your friend/family member if you get too hungry, especially during the winter time. Oh I went there.

If you cooked any more slowly, you wouldn’t need an egg timer, you’d need an egg calender…HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…oh that’s right…I went there.
500’000’000 dollars for anyone one who gets that reference. (imaginary dollars)
I’m glad I came back in here just to see Strong’s pics. Very nice ![]()

I’m in agreement with Beans. Yeah, it’s great to talk all this scientific stuff and talk of “intolerances”, “from a physique standpoint”, and “optimal”, but after awhile that shit has to be cut out and people just need to follow a damn sports nutrition or bodybuilder’s diet and emulate the people who’ve done this before.
If you need to make adjustments along the way because of some stumbling block (eg, an actual food intolerance or allergy) or change in goal (eg, get big versus cut, run a marathon or whatever), then do it.

Sorry Brick, the question has bugged me for a while because even at 32 I’m still trying to fine tune what I’m eating. I’m taking off from the words “stumbling block” above and mine is Type 2 Diabetes.
From reading this thread and few other recent threads I’m picking up that (sorry If I’m oversimplfying):
- The calories and calorie deficit from basal metabolic rate (I don’t know if this is the correct term for the number of calories a body burns everyday) matters.
- The macro nutrients matter.
- The foods matter.
You can’t choose one because they ALL matter. (hope I’m right so far).
I eliminated the grains used in bread, pasta, oatmeal for the last 5 months. My blood sugar is much better. From fasted blood glucose of over 8 to 9 mmol/l down to 4 to 6. Reduced medication and testing around 6 to 7. I’m paranoid now to try those grains again. I’ve eaten some rice but it’s perhaps 5 or 6 times in total (that’s meals) for the same period.
The rest of my diet is meat, eggs, fish, nuts (no peanuts), berries, green vegies, cheese, whey protein. I didn’t want to label this as paleo or ketogenic etc - I didn’t even want to call it “diet”.
Just wondering if you had any specific diet advice to Diabetics? That maybe low GI was something I needed to watch carefully or take grains with low GI etc? Or pehaps my stumbling block is significant enough that I should reconsider grains altogether or even diary (because I’ve heard there is connection between dairy and insulin sensitivity)? Again I could be completely wrong. (in the past I haven’t been able to PM you when I tried so if you prefer I take this off the boards and on to email I can). Thank you.[/quote]
Some foods are absorbed more quickly. If you really are diabetic, the GI index of carbs does matter. However you can still eat high GI cards, as long as you space them out. For example, a slice of low GI bread might take an hour to absorb, and high GI bread might take a half hour to aborb. The high GI bread will cause a bigger spike in blood sugar. But, two low GI slices eaten at the same time will cause the same spike as two high GI slices eaten a half hour apart (for example). However, altheltes might actually want the fast spike in blood sugar.
Not all “healthy” foods are absorbed slowly. Fruit is supposedly healthy, but it’s mostly sugar, so it causes a huge spike in blood sugar. Don’t eat fruit or drink fruit juice.
An ECA stack could help you lose weight, as long as you’re healthy enough to take it. Monitor your blood sugar. Congrats on the good work so far.
If you take less of your diabetes medication (especially insulin), you won’t gain as much weight. But, the best diet advice would be to not be fat. You won’t have diabetes if you eat less of anything. The v-diet would be a guaranteed way to lose weight.

If you’re diabetic you shouldn’t be eating bread, at least not much anyways as its a didease of blood sugar control, so it makes sense to greatly reduce foods that INCREASE blood sugar.
-
It also depends on which diabetes you have. If its type 1, then it really doesn’t matter because there’s nothing dietary wise that you can do to alleviate it. However if its type 2, then its wise to greatly reduce carb intake, especially fruits and grains as these are carb heavy.
-
Are you telling otherwise healthy people to not eat fruit?
-
You said you “won’t have diabetes if you eat less of anything.” That is a gross simplification of a disease.
-
The v-diet is not a cure for diabetes and probably should not be done by diabetics.
Oh and, from reading your other posts…stop giving advice.

I guess that’s why I’m over weight-too much fruit. I’m interested to see what kind of physique you have achieved. You post like you have a phd. You must be an accomplished individual sir.
