Why No Legumes on Paleo Diet?

Lol saw this coming from a mile away.

Come to think of it, in all my years as a dietitian, I never once had to get shirtless for an interview.

I’m confused. :(
As much as it pains me to say it, people do just the professional health & performance advisor on how he looks, even if it is at a subconscious level.

I get so much more work when I am in great shape. Part of that is undoubtedly because I feel great, and that shows through when I talk to people, but mostly it’s because people want to look like you, if they work with you. They also require that re-assurance that you must know what you are doing, because you look the part.

It’s bullshit human nature, but there you are.

That’s my opinion.

BBB
I agree with you. But it also depends on what sector someone’s working in. I work in healthcare, so my appearance means NOTHING! Well, I don’t KNOW if it meant nothing because after all, maybe my interviewers looked at me and said to themselves, “This guy really takes diet serious for himself; it’s part of who he is, not just what he works in.” I once had an interviewee who hired me say on the interview something like, “It’s about time we have a male RD around here, and who who’s in shape and really is passionate about what they do.”

Of course it helps in some ways, even if indirectly.

I just don’t know understand why dietitians’ looks have anythign to do with my statement about the Paleo squad.

And I don’t consider someone who restricts certain foods simply because they don’t respond to them well as following some type of fad or belonging to some cult. If you avoid legumes or dairy or whatever else is on the banned list of the Paleo crew because YOU truly don’t do well with them, and not because Paleo Man said so, then I don’t consider you paleo. I consider you someone who’s making a good decision to stay away from foods you don’t do well with.

Because the paleo diet is RETARDED… anything that tells you not to eat healthy fats should be killed, raped, killed again, and then sent back to crossfit

Maybe you should do a lil more research.

Yep. Most of them look better than dietitians too. It’s weird.
Actually your comparison is weird too, considering you didn’t explain what a dietitian’s competence in a dietitian’s professional role has anything to do with Paleo dieting.

Can you explain?

Can you also explain why some of the best physiques ever built didn’t follow a Paleo diet. I mean that’s strange too. You got Dorian Yates eating several pounds of rice, pasta, lentils, and dry cereals, and he managed to be a top notch Olympia competitor, let alone a winner.

This whole convo has gotten strange.
Quit using the fucking Mr. O reference already. Why don’t you eat the way Dorian did and see what happens to your sub par ass. We are talking about recreational lifters and everyday guys not people training hours a day and taking a massive amount of drugs.

Maybe everybody should take test and hgh because Mr O does. I mean shit, if Dorian did something everybody should do it.

LETS BELIEVE EVERYTHING WE READ ON THE INTERNET!!

OK, I won’t talk about competitors. I’m an ordinary gym going guy who eats bread, pasta, rice, dry cereal, nightshade veggies, dairy, and feel and function just fine.

Thanks.

All my friends eat the way I do too. And none of us compete. Actually, some of them don’t give a shit about serious lifting at all, and they follow a relatively high starch diet with some dairy and other anti-Paleo foods.

Come to think of it, natural bodybuilders eat quite a lot of grains do.

What do drugs have to do with food choices in this context?

I don’t know what this guy’s so mad about.

I’m also a real nutritionist considering I have formal undergraduate and masters degrees in nutrition as well as holding an RD registration. Those credentials are actually more REAL than any NON-ACCREDITED (non-governing academic bodies) credentials or someoen deciding to call themselves a “nutritionist” while holding an undergraduate degree in theater arts.

Brick is saying people should be able to eat a shit load of grains and be ok.

The same dudes that post shit about eating 8 ice cream bars in a sitting to get yoked…

Who exactly?

You seem to. After you done blowing Brick you can wipe your mouth off and eat all the grains you want. Be sure to upload some pics. I wanna see if your muscles are as big as your mouth.

Also, there are numerous health professionals who advocate a paleo like diet. I haven’t heard of one person eating paleo, caveman, or likewise complaining about their physiques.

He trains professional athletes. If it works for them it probably works for most.

Do they? All of them? I guess I missed the day where all bodybuilders sat down to pasta and bread for their calories. We talking about rice?

Funny how nobody has any pics, but they will defend their point to the death (behind your screens)

And who made YOU the be-all-end-all on all things related to nutrition?

It’s also an asinine statement considerign that most people who dedicate a large part of their life to their diets and looking good will most likely LOOK GOOD, whether they follow Paleo or something else.

Name some of these health professionals (aside from Cordain and the Eades). Unlike YOU, I’m not going to rip on the Paleo diet (nor have I in this thread at all) just because I don’t know of every health professional that espouses it.

It’s also funny you mention health professionals considerign that MOST health professionals also recommend the antithesis of the Paleo diet - a diet rich in whole grains and moderate amounts of dairy, ALL vegetables, potatoes, and legumes.

Thing is, this is silly. The paleo diet is a great, no bullshit diet that can help people eat better.

The food guide is also another way to help people eat better.

You have many bodybuilders that eat and advocate low carb diets for health and fat loss. Heck even old time bodybuilders, like Vince Gironda, ate low carb.

But then you have the bodybuilders that eat high carb for health and fat loss. One such proponent is Clarence Bass. At his age, damn he looks good, and he eat a shit ton of whole grains.

So as we can see, both dietary approaches can work. I believe its the kind of diet that makes you feel good and is maintainable that will produce the best results in the long run.
