GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP/CBS Charlotte) A man who shot four people near a Greenville Wal-Mart in June picked out his victims because they were white.

Lakim Faust an African American had more than 100 rounds of ammunition when he started shooting at people who were standing outside at a law firm and a shopping center.

Faust, who is black, picked out his victims based on their race, according to indictments. The documents didn’t specify why Faust wanted to shoot white people, and police have not talked about why he picked out his targets. Earlier reports had indicated that Faust was shooting “indiscriminately.”

I’m not a fan of Zimmerman and I didn’t hate Trayvon Marton. I don’t hate this man Faust.

But the Zimmerman shooting story was plastered 24/7 in the headlines, and repeated daily were the details so you knew a “white” man (Hispanic man with black relatives) shot a black “kid” (6’2" weighing 160pounds)

Pretty good evidence defined the crime as was self defense. Whether you believe that or not doesn’t matter. Zimmerman a Hispanic was tried in a court of law and found not guilty, that does matter.

The “state of being equal” in national news reporting is why I bring it up. This happened in June and no news organization reported then that it was in any way racial.

How do they decide what stories make 24/7 national news in shootings? Obviously this comparison points out that only when a white shoots a black should it be plastered across the country and for as long as possible .

Do you believe that is good for our nation?

Murder isn’t national news. It happens too often and doesn’t have a fraction of the effect that, say, budget negotiations have on the American people. At least the ones not married/related to the murder victim (which is most of us, by the way). There are, of course, some people–mostly old lonely ladies flipping from “their soaps” to the local news, who think “crime” when they hear the word “news.” You know, the old hags who muttered about Casey Anthony a dozen times an hour for the better part of a year.

Sometimes, though, murder trials stand in as proxies for some more consequential issue. It was decided–hastily and less-than-wisely, but not without some justification–sometime early on that Zimmerman-Martin had bearing on some larger debates. For example, profiling–which is a question of national importance. And so it became national news. It is not difficult to imagine why a black guy getting stopped and frisked in NYC, in crystal-clear violation of the United States Constitution, would be interested in a murder case in which stupid overeager profiling played a significant and in many ways precipitating role.

Oh and about this:

Trayvon Martin was 5’ 11" and weighed 158 pounds. While it doesn’t surprise me that canards and lies have found their way into the OP, it would be good to keep them to a bare minimum.

He is The Overfiend. He used to post/troll on another forum. He can deny it but others who posted there and who have seen his posts here have recognized him. The only reason he doesn’t spam this forum, like he did that one, is because there is more moderation here. That forum no longer exists but if it did and you saw his posts there you would easily make the connection.

Yes, that was his screen name. He had a Sean Connery as 007 avatar there as well. This recent quote from him, “This “old racist” can put you on the ground any day of the week,” was the sort of thing he would post there. He bragged about how the beatings he would dish out would be done “casually.” If he posts a link he will inevitably complain how you didn’t click it and that you need to. Has he hinted that he works as a govt agent or something similar? I believe the answer is yes.

As soon as I read the title I knew it was a conservativedog race thread, I just knew it. Who fucking cares. It’s retarded no matter what the claim is when someone kills another person . Be it racial,political,ideological, or based on some form of religious extremism. Their race is just a statistic, fact, cosmetic, type of variable.
