I got a bunch of labs recently. I am 40 years old and I am natural. I haven’t had my testosterone checked in a while so I was just trying to see where it was at. I didn’t get any of the other related tests that somebody might get.
Does anyone have any idea why my total and free testosterone would be so high? What other tests should I get? Should I see some kind of professional to figure out why it is so high?
FTR I’m 42 and had very similar numbers (946/166). My SHGB was also pretty elevated. I also had very high iron numbers and the doctor thought the high iron can cause the high SHGB which can cause the high TT. I’ve done a bunch to get my iron numbers down and I’m going to re-check in a couple more weeks.
If SHBG was high, then wouldn’t that caused free test to be low?
I stated in my post, I wasn’t planning on getting a full panel, because I just wanted a baseline assessment of my t levels (because I was actually anticipating my test being low).
it can, but its not linear.
If your FT was calculated, it can be significantly off of what the real reading is.
Even Free Test (direct) is as much as 40% off reading.
The only accurate method of checking Free Test is via Equilibrium Dialysis.
In any case, I wouldnt be going to a Dr to have them change it.
Keep an eye on your HCT as that might be high as well.
