Why Hate Bush?

What does that have to do with your point that everyone - with the exception of you, of course - is a ‘sheep’?

Every national election has the element of ‘fear’ - i.e., if you vote for the other guy, the nation will be a worse place. It is a perfectly justified consideration - just as Kerry supporters think a vote for Bush makes the world more dangerous, and vice versa. So what? Stop wasting our time with this stuff.

Yep. But that had nothing to do with your immature comment.

Democrats also voted out of fear… just different fears than the other 51% of the country.

A little defensive? It had everything to do with my……comment. People are sheep especially the consevative right. The whole of their dogma is to reject change “stay the course”, and trust God and the president. “Trust the president–he’s our president,” is all I heard on any public opinion coverage during the 2004 elections. These to me are the actions of sheep–do not question just follow, everything will be alright.

Kerry may not have been a better option, but we’ll never know that. What we do know is that Bush and his administration have failed miserably and were failing before the 2004 election. The people were duped because it is easy to dupe sheep–they aren’t the smartest barnyard animal…despite what the movie Babe taught us. All you have to do is scare them.

Apparently, all the president has to do is wave the flag, love God, and metion the “war on terror” to get conservtive votes.

I’m not implying liberals don’t have their own triggers; just mention global warming and it’s over.

Bahh…Baaaahhh!

This is ridiculous if it’s the ONLY method of teaching children. Children should be taught the mechanics of the language AND read a lot.

However, I definitely believe that adults who read significantly more have a better grasp on grammar and style than those who do not.

It is impossible to read a lot and not “magically” absorb many elements of style and grammar.

Overall, I think everyone in America, from elementary students to adult professionals, would benefit a great deal if everyone stuck their nose in some books, any books!, and kept it there for a few hours every week.

Agreed. And yes, it is the ONLY way they teach English. No diagramming sentences, no lessons on how to use a comma.

The United States is God’s immune system for the evil on this planet. Just like an infection can happen, eventually your body recognizes it and attacks. Why do you think God created this country in the first place? We are his ‘strong right hand’ on earth.

You ask me for references about WWII and then you make a silly argument that “God created this country” to police the planet? This isn’t what most people thought proir to WWI before Wilson’s “make the world safe for democracy” speech. This country didn’t believe in helping anyone other than its self.

If you ask me religious nuts that believe your sentiment make this place look like God’s retarded cousin that should be locked in the closet when company comes over.

You didn’t get it — if you can spout unsupported nonsense, why can’t I do the same? Mine is a lot more likely, btw, than your notion.

Man, maybe my history is a little rough, but last I checked that was not why this country was created.

You both need to back that shit up.
The Soviets became powerful after the war, not before or during. The only thing they had going for them was winter.
It is not the US’s job to help everyone out. It’s a stupid policy. We need to protect our own interests and asses and that is about it. Evil will exist in and out of America, there is nothing we can do about that.

liftus,

In all seriousness, do you truly think that all of the 61,000,000 + voters who voted for Bush are ignorant? Do you really think they are mindless automatons? Do you think that all of those people follow a rigid, narrow, religious dogma?

The man has the one of the toughest jobs in the world, bar none.
And I believe he was not really well qualified for it,in more ways than one.But I don’t doubt his personal sincerity. His associates,on the other hand,I don’t trust for a second.

So I don’t approve of the job he has done, but ‘hate’?

Emotionally charged rhetoric that I personally despise. It doesn’t help constructive debate in any shape or form whatsoever… [/quote]

Neuromancer,

That was a very balanced post. This is the sort of rational posting that would spur on positive debate.

Too often people allow their intolerance and prejudices to shut off their brain.

I don’t think you are one of them.

No, I don’t. I know there are people out there who actually beleive in the conservative, republican dogma. I also know there are people out that only vote the way they do because their neighbors do. I never said anyone was ignorant; but, intelligence is the ability to recognize when someone is pulling the wool over one’s eyes. Ironically, it is also noted by the ability to lie really well.
