“He was a victim of circumstances.”
“He wasn’t that bad.”
“Look at Obama’s cronyism in selecting a pastor for the inauguration. And how he deserted those poor gays.”
You know, stupid stuff like that.

There’s no doubt that Bush was in over his head. But I think many fail to realize that ‘no one man is Caesar’. Bush was at the control of very powerful interests both here and abroad.
No one knows who is calling the shots. I think you’re simply blaming the messenger.

I think that history will ultimately judge Bush on the historical outcomes of both Afghanistan and Iraq.
That is not too favorable for Bush in that trying to put into place some semblance of Democracy among peoples that historically have been best ruled my War Lords, Dictators or Clerics does not appear promising.
Obama in inheriting one of the worst messes I think I’ve seen any President inherit since I’ve been voting. I DO NOT expect him to “solve” it all; that’s impossible. My expectation from Obama is to work hard and to try his best.
I’m sure that won’t be enough, however, for a lot of people, especially many on this Forum.

I’m with Zep on this one.

I certainly wish him well. But realize he is trapped — trillions in debt, wars, a collapsing economy. If he can figure a way to restore a golden age, God bless him and I’ll fucking praise him to no end.
I personally think that we are about to enter the Greatest Depression since the Dark Ages, with the USA emerging intact and resembling Nazi Germany in the 1930’s. If he can stop that, then I’d vote him the best POTUS in our history.

True. Working hard on the wrong sort of work isn’t always enough. I eagerly await his Presidency. As I’m convinced he’ll provide much for me to post about.

It has everything to do with you rooting for Bush after it was apparent to everybody he was a shady bastard.
And declaring Obama a shady bastard before he set one foot in the oval office.
Tell us again it’s not about his color. You might actually start to believe it yourself.
@ Wreckless: It’s not about color so much as it is ideology. We are far more apt at seeing corruption and incompetence in the opposing party than we are at seeing it our own. Likewise we are far more likely to excuse the flaws of our party than to excuse the flaws of the other.
I think it’s a bit too early to evaluate GWB’s legacy, but I’m fairly certain he’ll end up ranking among the worst few presidents we’ve had in the USA. I have little confidence that Iraq and Afghanistan will turn out well; and even if they do, I don’t see why the praise for those successes should go to a man who ended his term when they were anything but.

You are very assumptive too. That really sucks for you. I bet life is a sad thing and the world a scary place.

I disagree. While I think Iraq/Afghanistan will turn out successful, I think Bush will be best remembered by historians for the bailouts and getting the ball rolling for our coming nationalization of industry.

I agree with this, I’m entirely outraged more about the bailouts than anything, and most people don’t really even think twice about it.

Naah, that’s a bit to assumptive of you?
Did you, or did you not critisize Obama over his choice af pastor at his inauguration? Did you, or did you not, cite that as an example of his cronyism?
Did you ever use the word cronyism in relation to your hero W. Bush, when you had the chance? He gave you plenty of opportunity. The guy ran your county like he was an African tribal leader for 8 years, believing loyalty was more important than competence. Never a peep from you though.
You say his color doesn’t matter? What is the difference then?
Why are you busting his chops over something that hasn’t happened yet? And why did you give Bush a free ride for 8 years? If skin doesn’t matter, what is the difference between those 2 guys? Why the change in attitude?

Because race is the ONLY possible reason we could have been against him. Racist.
mike[/quote]
Well, that’s not the only reason. Another reason for giving someone like Bush a free ride for 8 years wrecking your country, while bashing Obama before he even set a foot in the oval office, another reason for doing that is perhaps that you guys are fucking retards.
AND racists. Because the two don’t exclude each other. Au contraire. (that’s French).
