ok, i speed every fucking day of my life, unless for some reason im just not driving anywhere. everyday to school or work im hitting 100mph on roads that are 55-65mph.
BUT…i am not dumb enough to make a statement such that i would be much safer if everyone else was driving at these speeds, or if the speed limit was higher, etc.
was it not hammered into everyones brain in high-school physics that every action has an equal and opposite reaction? force x acceleration x blah blah blah…
POINT BEING, when you lose control of your car at 90mph, youve got a exponentially greater chance of getting seriously injured than you do when you lose control at 35mph, or even 55mph. i mean, is this not common sense?
i mean come on. people that fly on sport bikes and whatever, i know theyre having a fucking blast. im somewhat envious. ive been over 120mph on two different honda rockets, and mother of god thats fun, but scared the hell out of me, because if i fuck up, or otherwise lose control, they are fucking scraping me off the road. on the other hand, the same bike at 35mph or 55mph probably is not going to kill you (depending on whats around you).
everyone keep speeding, please. i know i will, im certainly not here to beg anyone to stop, but come on- at what point does your safety matter> im pretty sure its when you wreck that it matters the most. none of us want to wreck, but shit happens. i doubt anyone that wrecks at 100+ mph in a car, motorcycle, whatever, would not trade places with a wreck at a lower speed if they could.[/quote]
Well, I do not want to wreck and I especially do not want to wreck at 55+MPH, let alone 100 MPH. It seems my odds of wrecking increase the faster I go relative to my environment, I.G. slow highway traffic, back road, school district where kids are walking, etc. People seem to not care if they are doing 10 MPH below the posted speed limit in the far left lane, even when the other lanes are clear, some pedestrians think you will stop, some even slow down and dare you to hit them.
If you drive fast, do it sensibly. Speed does not kill, different speed kills.
