I love it. Now you are insinuating that a black family can’t have anything in common with a white family.
Wyoming and Montana are safe places regardless of skin colour. Much safer than in LA.

Oh and i dont like Obama because he is a politician
I asked this question about a year ago. At what point does one of mixed ancestry become “white” or “black”? What is the magical fraction? 1/2? 5/8? 3/4? 7/8?
There is no answer to this question. There is no such thing as a “white” or “black” person. Race is entirely subjective.

So what criterion funnels a 1/2 black, 1/2 white man into the category of “black man”? Even if it is a subjective criterion.
It’s ENTIRELY subjective. By that I mean there is no basis of evidence to suggest race exists beyond the mind of the racist(people who make unreasonable prejudgments based on physical or other features THEY identify as race).

Correct. Obama had nothing to do with anyone having such expectations. It was very unfair. Those damn supporters just showed up at his rallies with “Change You Can Believe In” signs, and the teleprompter writers would put stuff up there about how now was when the planet would heal, now was when the oceans would stop rising, and so forth.

push is asking the right question. People make a big deal that Obama is black and that he is the first black president. Simply not true. Obama is white and black. I mean the guy can trace his mothers family to Strom Thurmond.
I dont really agree that race is entirely subjective but thats another issue. As for saying people who use race in classifying people are racist is irresponsible because your definition of racism/racist is not correct.

It’s so true! He has somehow taken us down the path of socialism, ruined our economy forever, made us a nation of pussies, and done nothing at all of note all at the same time!
I couldn’t imagine why Obama supporters aren’t all over this thread!

There is no definition for racism, because race does not exist.
limitatinfinity wrote:

A) That makes no sense.
B) It doesn’t follow that if x doesn’t exist then there can’t be a definition for it and by extension a definition of things that depend upon x existing.
For instance time machines don’t exist but the definition does. Likewise there is a definition for the Grandfather paradox even though it depends on the existence of a time machine.

No their is no definition for time machine or the grandfather paradox either.
Both of those phrases are meaningless because they are entirely subjective.
If you’d like you could attempt to define race and i’ll be glad to show that your definitions can not be observed or verified.
limitatinfinity wrote:

Nonsense. On all counts.
First of all there are clear definitions for a time machine.
Secondly they are both objective (time machines & the grandfather paradox). I will concede that race isn’t.
And finally just because something is subjective hardly makes it meaningless. Meaning itself is subjective.
You have just made me dumber with your pseudo-philosophical claptrap.
Now, of those places in WY and MT you speak of…what is the variance of diversity that you have witnessed there?
Just curious.
If there is little to no opportunity for racism, there would be practically no racism. Right?
Bingo. I live in probably the most diverse county in Wyoming, home to the state capitol and an Air Force base, and the black population here runs less than 4%, probably closer to 1%. There are places in Wyoming and Montana (and Utah and Idaho and Nevada) where you could spend most of your life without ever seeing a black person except on tv or on a trip to the big city. I know several ranchers who moved here from Alabama and Mississippi specifically for that reason.
We do have a much larger Spanish population, though, and the prejudice is very real.
The insinuation here is that because black populations are low racism must be the culprit in the mountain and intermountain West. Bullshit. Tme, if that is what you intended, then you are some kind of ignorant transplant to this part of the country and you toted a bunch of preconceived notions right next to the chip on your shoulder when you showed up here.
That’s not what I said at all, pushy. But it is a partial explanation, along with many other factors. Would you be comfortable moving your wife and young children to a part of the country where you actually stood out because of your skin color, there were very few people around that you had much in common with, and not most but at least some of the people you met were openly hostile? Me either. You can deny that racism is a factor if you want, but I think you know better.
Granted I didn’t bring my wife and children, but I did that for myself and it worked out all right for me. Hell, I couldn’t even read or speak the language when I came here

IMO the racism is there. It’s not nearly as widespread as some people would have you believe, but it’s there.
The major cause is sour grapes. Boohoo the Republicans lost after 8 years, boohoo change.
I wonder if racism was prevalent during the election, when Obama won by about 7 million votes?
Here’s what happened, he promised change and the majority of people (of all colors) believed him. He then took office and the sort of change that he is attempting to deliver is not what the majority of people want.
It’s really that simple.
It just can’t be that simple. It has to be more complicated than that. And the more complicated it is the more we need a 22 year old New Zealander who has relatives in the US to solve the algorithm for us.
But it is that simple. I’ve had exactly one person say to me “just what we needed, a half breed spear chucker in the whitehouse”. Every other person I’ve talked to who is critical of Obama gave me no reason the believe that race had any bearing at all. Personally, I’ve said before and will say again that I actually like the man. If he weren’t in a position to turn my country into a socialist haven and I met him somewhere I have a feeling that he’d be enjoyable company.
Too bad he is an enemy of the United States like I said during the campaign. People I meet are surprised by all this exploding government intrusion and it turns them off. I am not surprised in any way.
Over the weekend one of my customers who I’ve known for a while because he was in the building I worked in with Ford told me how brilliant I was for calling how this was gonna go if this guy got into office. He voted for Obama for “change”. (chump)
I laughed at him, “but it ISN’T brilliant, that’s the whole point. All you had to do was ignore the campaign and look at the guys past. What the hell did you think he meant by change?”

So the only thing you could muster up that you like about him is that he’s NOT someone else? In that case, I can find 7 billion other people you would like, and possibly we could let them run the country.

I mean at a certain point i think people need to start embracing the fact that they are AMERICAN. Where I live people will ask others what they are and the responses will range from Italian, Irish, “x”, etc. and it infuriates me because if you were born in the US or on a US military base you are American. I am first generation and am proud as hell to be American.
I also really get how people can say race doesnt exist. Tell the whole population of the jewish people that they arent a race. or why do certain illness only effect certain populations like sickle-cell anaemia? Just because race exists doesnt inherently make it a bad thing.
