Why Do You Want To Be BIG?

“Arnold 6’2” naturally 200"

first of all, that height is inflated. arnold is like 6’

and arnold started lifting weights well before he weighed 200lbs, so you have no idea what his weight would be if he ate a shit diet and didnt lift

and if you are focusing on dumbell with your stats, you are wasting your time

i am 6’, i wrestled 135 in HS. i currently weigh 195, and i plan on getting a lot bigger

you just like to make excuses

yeah, you wont look exactly like arnold, but you can get pretty god damned big

i agree to some of that
but they’re not excuses.

Arnold had genetics…even the best bodybuilders of today, using steroids can’t match some of Arnolds feats
1- the immense chest that he had…IMO is still the best chest ever built
2- those mind-blowing biceps…IMO are still the best ever built

…and he did that almost natural, lets face it, if the bodybuilders of today had to take the level of steroids of the 70’s bodybuilders, “they would weep and cry”

and your right i have no idea what his natural weight is, he stated it would be 200
and his height, i don’t either, he’s listed at 6’2"

all i know is:
my stats
my natural bodyweight
waist size
& being a natural bodybuilder & a hardgainer limits my max weight possible
i’m saying 190 at 5% bodyfat
anything over 5% bodyfat, hell i could be 240…but it would be all fat

one last thing
i wrestled too
105 in high school, and i’m now 175

trust me, i know whats possible
for me Frank Zanes build is about as big as i can get without steroids

he was MR O in 1980(or around there)

that is nothing to sneeze at

that is not something to be disappointed about

you have height, most of these top BBers are like 5’7

id rather have hard gainer genetics and be tall, than be an easy gainer that is short (but that is just my opinion)

oh believ me, i’m not complaining about my genetics, i actually think mine are good…just don’t pick me to be a defensive lineman, i blow away in the wind

my biceps are unfair…i dont do shit and they grow…trust me, when i say this…Arnold would have had those Biceps no matter what he did, granted he had a great pain threshold, but i know from having great Bicep genes that they are an easy muscle to grow.

he had a hard time with his legs, see what i mean

genetics are 90% of it IMO
wonder how many times Mike Matazarro<<SP
had to give attention to his calves
he probably forgot he ever had to work them his were so natural

Arnold had some impressive ass biceps at 19…those were his calling card to stardom, and that is probably why we are all on T-Nation chatting about “muscles”
Arnold was the renegade of this sport
He did for Muscles what Ali done for boxing.
Just an opinion, don’t crucify me.

Because it’s art. It’s a synergy of perfomace and aestetics. Like a really nice sports car. It has lots of horsepower and it looks the part. It’s a constant mental and physical struggle to attain perfection, which will never happen. It isn’t the goal, it’s the pursuit that’s beautiful.
Yes, it’s an art and I am the canvas.

People limit themselves to genetics too much. If you think genetics are your limit, then you’re already limiting yourself because you think you have a limit.

The mind is a powerful thing, and although everyone has their genetic ceiling, the chances of reaching that genetic ceiling are VERY VERY slim (I doubt most olympic caliber athletes are at their genetic ceiling for example, and they’re some of the best athletes in the entire world for their respective sports).

Genetics are only part of it IMO. If you think you can be 300lbs. at 5% BF on a 6’ frame, then that’s half the battle. If you don’t think you can do it, you’ve already lost without beginning.

Now back to what this thread is about; I want to get big because I want to challenge my genetics, and say to my DNA (ok, not literally, cause that would make me certifiably crazy…) “Take that you little bastards, I’m NOT an ecto, and I’m not a skinny little twirp that’s hopeless. I’m a frickin’ animal, and you won’t stop me from becoming a bigger one!”.

Too bad I’m on a rest week now, I just got myself revved up…DOH!

It’s fulfilling.

Many things in life are outside of your control. Your body, and what you can do with it, is basically under your own complete control.

This is the most facinating thing that you don’t get until you do it, then it’s really one thing you have FULL control over.

You can’t tell what your boss, wife, kids, friends will do or nature will do to you, but this, this is under your control. It’s enough to give you a hard on at times.
That just about covers it all!

Lately it seems like being short is like having a second head growing out of your shoulder. Pity and revulsion for those poor souls! Seriously, what gives?

And Mr. Push Ups, what or who exactly are “Hugh muscles”?

i want to be bigger so i have to turn sideways to fit through doors, oh and so my giant penis does not make the rest of my body look so small.

Awesome Post
You just made me run down to my basement and do deadlifts.
I hate deadlifts!
I almost threw my back out.

the reason i have this preference is simple, you can gain muscle a lot easier than you can gain height

shit, i wish i could be 7 feet tall and weigh 400 lbs ripped

Because having big muscles makes me feel strong. I remember watching Hulk Hogan as a kid and dreaming about being as big and as strong as he was.

YEEEEAH…for what the third or fourth time in this thread. Not saying I disagree with it.
