Foster’s Lager, mate.

Not that I would know what it actually tastes like; I was a Mormon at the time I lived down under.

2+2=4 that is a fact. There is no need to be open minded about it. When things are true you don’t have to pretend to believe them you just do.

Incase you did not read the 2+2=17 comment. My point is Being open minded about facts is silly. If you need to open minded about religion the concepts can not be factual.
Even though I explained this in a previous thread you’re still just going to ignore what I say and persist with your asinine comments. But I’ll try one more time.

Atheists/non-secular America is roughly 16% of the population yet there is 0 representation in government. There are and there have been Muslim, Hindu, and Jewish senators but no atheists. Atheists outnumber Jews and Hindus in America and probably Muslims but I’d have to check that last one.

The other day I came across a study that showed Americans would rather elect an openly muslim president before an atheist. Does this not stand out to you? Do you not see there is a stigma with openly being an atheist in society? What do you think the OP is talking about? Do you think we are all lying?

I’m sure this is going to be ignored just like it was when I first said it.

So do you find it tough being a Christian in America? Is it tough being a Christian?

I have no problem whatsoever with Christians like you who believe in separation of church and state. People should be able to believe whatever the hell they want, as long as they don’t legislate their beliefs on others.

However, not all Christians believe in separating church and state. They feel justified creating laws that reflect their religious beliefs, because they’re convinced those laws are from god, and hence must be good for everyone to follow.

That’s why religious social conservatives like Michelle Bachmann and Rick Perry scare me. They would create laws that directly impact me in a negative way, based on their religious convictions.

We’re making progress. The majority of Americans now support gay marriage, and several states have legalized gay marriage. Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been trashed for the discriminatory policy it was. The Defense of Marriage Act is currently under judicial scrutiny as being unconstitutional. Being gay is far less the stigma that it used to be, and prominent celebrities and politicians have chosen to come out. We have a long way to go yet, but I feel fortunate to live now and see the progress firsthand.

Most Christians are for separation of Church and state contrary to what you may think. Bachmann has no chance.
I hope you’re right, and agree that increasingly this is becoming the case in our country. People are more willing to live and let live, especially when they’re struggling with real issues like a sucky economy that affect them personally.

<— Wants Catholic government…ran by the Pope himself.

Kidding about the Pope thing, because he’d have to raise up a Duke of 'Merika to rule.
