I don’t see it!!!
I’m employing West Side training techniques every day.
They are employing latte’s, sandals, driving around with their sister, long hair, throwing stars, Bruce Lee movies, bullying high schoolers on the basketball court, and John Kerry stickers to make them feel special.
There is no comparison!!!

Also, to be fair Jeff, I included you in the clusterfuck for your extraneous use of exclamation points and threats of physical violence. I apologize if I implied that you share similar tastes in footwear with Al and Lumpster.
If you think Stewart “bitch-slapped” anyone, you’re kidding yourself. Watch the clip again: ifilm.com domain name is for sale. Inquire now.. He hides behind the fact that his show’s on Comedy Central, while acting like he’s the conscience of America.

I think you’re right in that John Stewart hid behind that fact that his show is on CC and he came off as a little self-important, but much of what he said was on point.
There was an interesting thread on here last year about how the media has popularized the notion that “fair and balanced” means an extremist from each “side” yelling at each other. It sets up an adversarial environment where a “side” as to “win”. John used rather stong language to point that out, but that doesn’t make him wrong.
Also, it was pretty refreshing for someone to come on a show like that and speak on it in an honest way. I mean come on, don’t we all really deep down inside (some deeper than others) know that these shows are a joke? Even if we find them entertaining…

Apology accepted!!! I prefer flat, wide shoes that can evenly distribute the stress of heavy compound movements.
What would life be without imagining the look on Paul Begala’s face when I rolled into the room?
Doesn’t it delight the imagination to think about him trying to interrupt me or grandstand at my expense?

As a conservative, I think Anne Coulter is in the same class as Michael Moore and Al Franken, a partisan attack dog who lies at will and panders to the lowest common denominator. I don’t really see much difference between one of her books and Fahrenheit 911. I guess she’s got nice legs though.
Okay, so what conservative thinker types do you like?
And could you give some examples of the lies of ann coulter? Cause not even my commie lib friend who hates her can actually come up with any.
At least her books all have sources and cites, Franken and Moore can’t claim that.
And her legs aren’t bad, but a bit skinny.
Laura Ingraham’s got some nice legs though.
Honestly, how does anybody defend what Coulter says as rational? Her work is nothing but numerous rants in an angry manner.
“That’s the whole point of being a liberal: to feel superior to people with less money.” …
“Only when you appreciate the powerful driving force of snobbery in the liberals’ world view do all their preposterous counterintuitive arguments make sense. They promote immoral destructive behavior because they are snobs, they embrace criminals because they are snobs, they oppose tax cuts because they are snobs, they adore the enviornment because they are snobs.”
Please, does that make sense to anyone? Hating cuts tax cuts makes you a rich snob? How many rich guys do you know who vote ultra-liberal? Wanting more enviornmental regulations makes you a snob? How many corporate execs are liberal Democrats and push for more regulation? Tom Delay got involved in congress because he was a insect exterminator who hate the increasing safety and enviornmental regulations put on his extermination business.

Thinking that you know what is best for other people is the form of snobbery that she is talking about. Whether you derive that from how much money you make, how much education you have, where you live, what job you have, or whatever, it’s snobbery.

I dislike Tucker Carlson because …I just do.
He’s a slimy weasel and a jerk.
He’s not a conservative, he’s more of a country club republican, and he’ll not hesitate to sell out or undercut a real conservative if he feels it’ll help him in some way.
Oddly, my friend the commie lib hates him for the exact same reasons.
He’s met him, and says he’s even more odious in person.
He is a complete asshole, but I like his honesty. A lot of the complaints about Carlson in this thread stem from his work on Crossfire, but I think a lot of that is format. All 4 of those guys are smart guys that can argue well, but the format of the show dictates it being a shouting match. Have you guys seen Carlson on other programs and/or read his stuff?
Sure Stewart did come off as a little self-important, but he was right on the money for the most part.
I like Tucker, even though the bowtie is a little goofy. If you didn’t like him on Crossfire, you should check out his show “Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered” on PBS. Yes, I said PBS. It’s very well done and thoughtful, a completely different approach from the shouting match you get on Crossfire. The link in the original post takes you to the show’s Web site, so if you have any inclination, the schedule is on there too.

The Main Steam Media use to lose money on their news groups but the networks understood that they had to actually report the news and spend money doing it to keep their public airways license.
That started to change when CNN hit cable. CNN’s moto was throw stuff out there and see if it sticks. They thought they could fix a incorrect statement in the next segment etc. Then we got FAUX and MSLSD.
As the big networks were either bought by multinational corporations or they could see the dollar signs things changed. Executives watched CNN make money on ‘reporting the news’ so they started slashing costs and began trying to make money.
We get the news we deserve.
Reporting 2 sides of a story now pits science or facts against hokus pokus. That is why I never watch the news. I get my information via the Internet.
I research stories to check their validity and I like to check the GOP and Dems talking points to see how much of their collective garbage makes it to the news printed on the Internet.
The entire MSM is owned by 6 multinational corporations whose job it is to increase their shareholders value.
Where do you think their alliances lie?
I already know Jeff, Joe and BF answers. Nothing can dissuade them.
Joe, you pointed at two billionaires that have more money than they know what to do with.
I don’t see how you you draw “telling people how to live their life” from calling for more funding for education, responsible care for the enviornment, etc.
Coulter is building upon this trend of labeling the left as elitist. You point at the left and say “damn liberals” drinking lattes, sipping wine, speaking french, etc. That’s her thing, ranting about that.
I don’t mind hearing both sides to an issue, but I can’t stand listening to wingnuts like her. Same goes for wingnuts on the left.

I personally enjoyed Stewart’s appearance on Crossfire. Carlson was taking Stewart to task for asking softball questions of his guests. Stewart pointed out that he was not a journalist, that his show was on comedy central and hence primarily for entertainment. When you do political satire, maybe you cross the line a bit over to actual journalism, but I think most people merely expect a few clever observations out of the daily show now and again, not serious journalism.
Whereas CNN is a news network, and his main argument was that he did not think it was, with Crossfire, doing a good job of informing the public. They were engaged more in entertainment than news reporting. I think everyone can see this trend on the TV news channels, and it was nice to see someone taking CNN to task for it. A poorly informed (and polarized)public is dangerous to a country like ours. It does “hurt America”.
As far as Stewart acting like the “conscience of America”, he does actually reflect the thoughts of many people who believe that most news organizations SUCK and need to do better. I don’t think his posturing was any sillier than Carlson trying to be the “right” and Begala(sp) trying to be the “left”.
The Daily Show is entertainment pretending to be a news source. CNN, with Crossfire, was a news source pretending to be entertainment. Which is the bigger problem?
I think Stewart hit the nail on the head. There is far too much theatre in TV news today.

I resent that.
I never said anything about the MSM being good–I said I preferred fox to the others, but I don’t watch the news either, I get my information the same way you do.

so how come I never see you ranting against the left wing nutjobs? The only time I see you saying anything is when you complain about the republicans.

Let me guess…you read Drudge, News Max, Town Hall, WSJ, etc.
I always laugh when someone says ‘liberal media’ because MSM is owned by 6 huge mulitinationl corporations. Why would they want to piss off the people in power.
That is how CNN got the name Clinton News Network because they were kissing the Presidents butt to earn favor. Now it is time to kiss GOP butt. As so the pendulum swings…it is a joke!
Sensational stories sell advertising on TV. Whatever is more sensational will get the air play. It really is that simple.
I made the mistake of watching one of the major networks last week and this is what I witnessed:
Network talking head comes on and start by saying:
“The Shindlers are trying to save their daughter’s life by appealing to the courts. Terri Shiavo is starving to death and their is little chance the courts will intervene and save her life.”
Sensationalizing tragedy is disgusting and that is all the MSM does anymore.
Faux News does it the most by the way to try and make tons of money.
The news should not attempt to make money as the news should serve the American people as they are using our public airways.
