Why Didn't Infimetric Exercise Take Off?

Chasberi (Charles Spencer) wrote a lot of interesting blog posts about the use of infimetrics. He built a lot of prototype machines to facilitate his experiments with the technique. His WordPress blog is still up, called Go2Strength. If you read the posts, you will see he knew Arthur Jones, and had at least a few conversations with Jones about strength training. Doug McGuff was also a fan of his work.

Seems that, in the end, he kind of stopped believing in the approach, or perhaps lost interest in writing about training, and moved on to other interests. Hasn’t posted for several years.

A vertical climber hooked to a Nautilus floating weight stack (such as found on a duo poly hip & back machine).could have much potential as a cardiovascular exercise machine.

Interestingly, Chasbari wrote about cardiovascular intervals using floating point akinetrics/infimetrics a few years ago.

Hi Simon,

I’m going to upload a link to a video or two… and a couple of photo’s to give you a good idea of what i’ve developed.

I’ll send you a link shortly.

INFIMETRICS, HIT, Arthur Jones and the future of exercise, Mike Mentzer, Dorian Yates Blood and Guts and what is possible using self-engineered self generated resistance without the need for external load.

Here is a link to download a snap shot of my work over the past 3 decades.

I started lifting weights to get strong and build my body from a 6 feet 129lb skinny 18-year-old who absolutely hated my body into someone who could wear a t-shirt without feeling so pathetically paranoid of how I looked.

It took me 6 years of brutal training to do so.
I never trained as a bodybuilder. I just lifted heavy weights and trained very hard indeed.
I had never even posed in front of a mirror, I always kept covered up.
I was spotted in the gym by Frank Richards in September 1986 he placed 10th at the Mr Olympia that year, and was holding
a bodybuilding contest the following week and invited me to compete.
I turned up on the day only having learned to pose the day before. I was coved in false tan, and the way my physique looked was how I looked every day at that time, no dieting no preparation whatever.

I entered as a novice and after having been advised by the head judge, I also entered the Mr category also.
To cut a long story short, I won both the Novice and Overall Mr Lancashire NABBA Titles.

14 days later I entered Walter O’Malley’s Autumn Classic, which was almost like an open Mr Britain at that time. One of the competitors had placed at the NABBA Universe that year so I was very aware that I may look very out of place.
Turns out that I tied 1st place and ended up in heath and strength magazine with a great write up.

I never competed again because I wasn’t a bodybuilder, I was just someone who hated being skinny and needed to lift weights for the rest of my life to prevent me from being skinny…

On the 2nd January 1991 I suffer a slipped disc in my lumbar spine whilst squatting. That was the last time I trained with weights. why? Because I discovered something that was to change my life and lead me on a quest for the next 3 decades…

It was only after coming across the writings of Arthur Jones in 2012 and reading his paper titled The Future of Exercise, I realised that my exercise system was basically what Arther Jones has theorised as the future of exercise.
Using our own body to provide resistance. The thing was this, what Arthur Jones envisaged were very complex machines.
I had developed a resistance exercise system needing nothing else other than a simple apparatus, A complete pocket multi-gym in the palm of your hand. I didn’t need any other exercise apparatus whatsoever.

Thats my early history in a nutshell .

I’ve uploaded a link which will probably expire in around 7-10 days.
It’s got a bunch of stuff on there. Photo’s 3 video’s and 2 .pdf files.
Here’s a list of the contents…

Jpeg files…

  1. This is me back in September 1986 and this is how I looked without training as a bodybuilder, just heavy weight lifting
  2. This is Dorian Yates back in 1986 having won the EFBB British Heavyweight title and placing 7th at the world Games.
I was the same age, same height and same weight as Dorian Yates at that time (virtually the same steroid cycle too.!)
  3. This is me back in 1986 with the same double bicep’s pose as Dorian Yates, same age height and weight. I competed as NABBA, If we had competed against each other, it would have been interesting!
  4. A 13-week (90 Day) Transformation I did on myself as a research study in 2013 to see what my exercise system was capable of doing to the human body.
  5. A comparison of myself doing the front lat spread. Thats me in 1986 on steroids and super strong and then that’s me
not having lifter weights since injuring my back in 1991 using only me exercise system and pretty much looking like this all the time now whenever I drop my body fat down a little. And I am totally natural, not used steroids since I stopped lifting weights nearly 35 years ago.
  6. Yes, The one and only Ronnie Coleman holding my exercise bar in his hands whist I gave him a quick run-down on what I do with it. He then gripped it tightly, looked up at me, took a deep breath and then exploded on it with full power…
Veins were popping out like crazy all over his arms. Then he relaxed. It was at this moment I realised that anyone of any age could use my exercise system, regardless to how weak or how strong you may be. Because this is true pure self
    engineered strength training.
  7. This picture shows a couple of my latest exercise devices.

There are 2 .pdf files which are open letters from Dr. James Fisher regarding my work.

There are 3 video files, one from 1994, one from 2016 and one from a few years ago. I made these for myself never really intending to show them to anyone.

I’ve called my exercise system a few different things over the years and the exercise device a few different names too but basically it is
BARONICS … Barons Intensive Conditioning system

And on a final note, I have no plans to market it but will answer any questions should anyone have any interest.
