Why Can't I Maintain Strength While Cutting?

No that’s usually the weight I cut at

And this is why I need a food scale. You know how much shredded mozzarella I can cram into a quarter cup?

Me neither. Cuz I don’t have a scale! :joy:

Really though, I can fit as much as I want on a pizza, which is way more than “one serving”.

Pleasant surprise when I weigh my food: it’s easier to get in my protein requirements than I thought. Disappointing downside: I’m always eating way more calories than I’d guess.

I got a scale last week and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at my eyeballing skills

I just think it’s funny, these serving sizes based on how much I can fit on a given measuring utensil. They usually include the weight in grams/serving too, and I’ve become curious to see if there is a major difference between scale weight and my Completely Biased ability to measure.

Especially salsa.

I can eyeball pretty good until the size becomes less than a dinner plate.

After that it might as well be precision machining to me. :joy:

When I started cutting, I was stuck at my starting weight (190) for like 2 weeks and one day I was 4lbs up (194).

Then out of nowhere, I was regularly 186-184. You just gotta keep at it. 5 days is nothing

I attempted to drop a weight class this year while improving strength to a reasonable degree.
During my last deadlift specialization cycle, I went from 110 down to 102 lbs , while my RM increased from 255 to 270. It was a struggle , and hunger went from normal to zero to RAVENOUS , but it paid off. I kept carbs high and trained longer ( twice a day on many occasions) . Currently 106 lbs lol trying to maintain sanity at that weight (after a couple days of , well ,eating as a job) and then cut again very , very soon.
Ridiculous amounts of coffee + high carb intake saved me and allowed me to complete that training cycle , I genetically have a very low BF percentage , so that doesn’t cause any strength side effects.
