Could this be the reason?
"A new study shows a drop in average blood levels of testosterone in middle-aged Boston men over the last 20 years.
The reasons for that decline aren?t clear, and participants? average testosterone levels are in the normal range, the study shows.
Low Testosterone Tied to Poor Health
Came across a nice article by james wilcott the other day.He points out several anomalies of the red state persona.
The report appears in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism?s early online edition.
The researchers work at the New England Research Institutes in Watertown, Mass. They included Thomas Travison, PhD.
Travison?s team studied the testosterone levels of 1,500 Boston men.
Blood levels of testosterone were first checked in the late 1980s. The second testing was in the mid-1990s. The third testing was in 2002-2004.
All of the men were 45 to 79 years old when they took the testosterone test.
As men age, their testosterone levels naturally drop. So the researchers made sure their comparisons were fair in terms of the men’s age."
Seems possible to me…

Came across a nice article by James Wilcott the other day that talks about some of the anomalies of the Red State persona.
Ten States with the highest incarceration rates in 2003: LA, MS, TX, OK, AL, SC, GA, MO, AZ, DE. Yup, those are all red states, with the exception of DE.
Ten States with the highest female incarceration rates in 2003: MS,OK,LA,TX, MT, ID, AZ, AL, NV, Co. All Red States. Beginning to see a pattern here?
Oh, and let’s not forget how Moral they claim to be.
Ten states with the highest divorce rates in 2004: NV, AR, WY, ID, WV, AL, KY, OK, TN, FL. All red states again.
Ten states with the highest illigitamacy rates in 2003: NM, LA, MS, DE, AZ, SC. FL, NV, GA, AR. All but one of those ten is a red state.
15 states with the highest obesity rates:
MS, AL, WV, TN, TX, IN, MI, OH, SC, MO, OK, GA. All of those are red states with the exception of MI, which is Michigan.
According to a study conducted by Morgan Quitno Press, blue states accounted for 8 out of the ten smartest states in the union.
It goes on to say that in Mississippi, one of the most god fearing states, thinks nothing is wrong with turning that coast line into a Gambler’s paradise. " Biloxi may have around 20 new casinos a decade from now, becomming the ruby in the navel of the Redneck Riviera."
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
