Why Attacks on Trump Don't Work

We’ve talked about this before on PWI…but recent Polling is suggesting that there is a phenomenon at play that is greater than in any recent Presidential Election…

And it’s people PASSIONATELY driven by…"I’m not so much a Trump supporter…but ANTI-Clinton/“I’m not so much a Clinton supporter…but ANTI-Trump…”

When coupled with 1) the coalescing of Republicans around Trump and 2) the LACK of coalescing around Clinton; what we are now seeing is the gap narrow in terms of the one favored (Trump vs. Clinton); with Trump moving ahead in some cases.

THERE IS A HELLUVA’ lot of politics and time left (conventions; VP choices; major flubs by the candidates, etc)…but this whole election is becoming more interesting each and every day.

In terms of flubs/mistakes made by the candidates?

I think Trump appears immune to any Political fallout (at least for now)…and Clinton appears coated with more Teflon than Reagan and her husband combined.

(…Push…you were going to comment on Zinke’s thoughts on Cruz a little earlier in the week?)

Shoot…I can’t remember exactly, Push…but I remember it was the thread where you were riding your horse! (If that helps!)

You need to either lower the dose or just plain calm down. If I have to make a detailed disclaimer for every post looking at a wide population and explicity speaking in generalities it would be a damn book and read like a lawyer’s contract. I know you’re not a Trump supporter and I am certainly aware that there are people who are educated who differ in opinion about Trump.

The post was about Mufasa’s curiosity regarding Bernie’s “rabid” support and what engenders it. I gave my opinion on the matter–IN GENERAL–with what I assumed was the painfully obvious intent to speak in generalities. Because Trump supporters and Sanders supporters–IN GENERAL–share a number of characteristics in markedly greater proportion than the people who have backed other candidates I highlighted several that I picked up on.

Neither disingenuous or condescending. Lighten up

Doubtful. Dharma is much nicer and so far much less conspiracy theorist. I prefer the innocent until proven guilty model with new posters aomce we sp rarely get them here in PWI

I don’t think this is the case so much as ahe appears to have tried to sell her soul to the devil in exchange for staying out of jail. Things are sticking to her, they just aren’t putting her down yet.

I never once uttered the phrase “buffoonish duncery” and I have not claimed that aaid former acting commander lacked analytical ability. You are pushing a false equivalence as well as a strawman. lighten up

If Sanders supporters are dumb and un-analytical for support his calls for universal healthcare, Trump supporting thinking they can build a wall and get Mexico to pay for it are all about the feels and none of the facts.

Thanks, Push!

I was curious about Zinke’s hesitation about Cruz.

For many; he was a first choice, “true” Conservative. I really thought that IF he didn’t get bogged down in “social” issues and trying to dismantle The Affordable Care Act; that he and Ryan together could probably get some things done.

(Speaking of Ryan…STILL no open endorsement of Trump. Ummmmmm…)

When it comes to their Con-man nominee, they are. They’re either oblivious to his record, or subconsciously block it. Trump supporters are suckers.

Just a few of things:

Clinton’s Teflon is about to get a real test as the FBI wraps up their investigation. If she escapes prosecution my guess is it will not be because she is coated in Teflon. It will be because she is being protected by Obama’s US Justice Department. If a recommendation from the FBI does come down for indictment and she is not charged the public will peel away her Teflon with a blow torch.

This is an anti government year thus the rise of Bernie the socialist and Trump the big mouth. This is not a year where incompetent former Secretary’s of State walk in to the White House. If her own party really wanted such a person why oh why has Bernie won almost half of the primaries? Listen closely, that is the democratic party saying very loudly “we don’t want Hillary”. That is also why there will be mass defections from the democrat party this time around. States like PA and Michigan (among others) normally considered safe for the democrats will be in play.

One more point which I like to bring up on occasion for those still lost in the political fog. One has to go way back to 1945 before we find two democrats getting elected back to back to the White House. And Franklin Roosevelt had to die to make that happen. Indeed it is rare for both parties. After a popular Ronald Reagan left office his Vice President George HW Bush was elected to the Presidency in 1988.

Hillary is indeed up against it not just because she is a proven liar, a former failed Secretary of State, lack luster candidate with no energy and no charisma. But the further Bernie pulls her to the left the more unpalatable she becomes in the general election. And people always seem to swing back and forth as history proves over the past six decades. No amount of Teflon even if she had it will save her.

Trump gets a pass on just about everything because he is an outsider whose image and persona has been in the public domain for almost 40 years. The voters, believe it or not, identify with him. The way he talks, the fact he’s never run for public office. The entire profane, speak your mind package is something that many on both sides of the political fence very much like. And most importantly he is as far away from Obama in looks and presentation as one can get. And because he is the Teflon don in this race the fact that he made believe he was someone else on a telephone call 35 years ago, or the fact that he was rude to 17 women while trying to date 28 others won’t amount to a hill of spit. And there won’t be a damn thing the main stream liberal media, or the republican establishment will be able to do about it. Because in a very large way they have both helped create this Frankenstein monster, now they have to live with him…we all will.

Case in point, Trump supporters support a tabloid briefed, Alex Jones-esque, conspiracy theorist who passed on the idea that Cruz’s father may have had something to do with the JFK assassination. Think about that for a second…

They actually believe Trump can attack for Hillary for attacking the women involved in one way or another with Bill…When Trump is on record attacking the very same women, even calling Bill the victim…But they’re oblivious of his record, so they wouldn’t know that.

Oh well, in that case, even worse.
