Why are Some People Such Douchebags?

Why should the guy move in that situation? This comment got me a little confused. Are you talking about bent-over barbell rows? When I do bent-over BB rows, at the bottom of my ROM, the barbell is only maybe 4 inches off the ground. Even with the pins at their lowest setting, using a power rack would restrict my ROM way too much. Do you do them with a more upright stance, then?

Isn’t it obvious? 3" dick. Explains everything.

Right…because anyone with a bigger dick would simply dive out of the way so someone much smaller can use the squat rack regardless of what he was doing previously.

Here’s a tip…if someone is really that big, chances are they know exactly what they are doing in the gym and why. They won’t be moving out of the way to change their entire routine for someone that much smaller simply because they are impatient and can’t wait until they are done.

But hey, it must make you feel better to think the guy bigger and stronger than you…with the hotter girlfriend, is inadequate in some way. It couldn’t just be…that he passed your level up a long time ago.
Guess the big guy left his sense of humor at home today … I was joking X

At about 6 minutes in is Dennis Wolf using the rack the same way. He lifts it off the rack and then backs up. He does NOT pick it up from the ground.

I guess that makes him a “douchebag” too.

…and trust me, I doubt Wolf would jump out of the way either for our OP here.

I wasn’t saying I’m 120lbs…but I would guess 80% of the guys at the gym I go to weigh between 120-170. And they are all extremly weak.

I’ve been to every gym in my area, and this one has the heaviest dumbbells, which max at 110lbs, though I’ve never once seen anybody use anything over 75lbs.

There’s no real point to this, it wasn’t heavy for me, but I’ve seen plenty of people struggle with pressing 90lbs(barbells). I don’t think I’m strong but I get alot of looks of disbelief from doing squatts/deads etc because almost everyone uses weight they could of lifted when they were 9.

You didn’t ask to work in, you asked him TO MOVE. Big difference there, chief.

On this note, I don’t like when people ask to work in on freeweight exercises unless the lifters are of comparable strength. With some machines (especially cable machines), all you need to do is move the pin and the weight is changed. With free weights, if someone is doing squats and another is doing barbell rows, it’s too much hassle to move the weights and the bar back and forth. Just wait your damn turn like everyone else.

I do them the same way, but only because my penis rubs against the carpet when I dip down low enough to pull from the floor.
Professor X wrote:

First, why do you think it matters what YOU feel about how he trains? If he is that big, it is OBVIOUSLY working for him so your opinion isn’t needed at all.

Second, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU ASKING when it involves the guy you are asking changing his entire routine to accommodate you. You didn’t ask to work in, you asked him TO MOVE. Big difference there, chief.

You were the one in the wrong here, not him.

You were the “douchebag”.
I think you totally missed the point of my post.

I weigh 235. I guessed the guy around 250, not really that much bigger then myself. Stronger? I doubt it. I don’t know this, but from he seemed to be having a hard enough time with his 140lb rows. He wasn’t that impressive, personally from what I have seen from him, I wouldn’t take advice from him anyway.

I have no beef about the guy not moving. He was there first, and thats fair. I didn’t go and sulk in a corner when he said no. I made a suggestion to lift from the floor as judging from the size of him, and the weight it wouldn’t of been any additional effort. If I thought this was an asshole move I wouldn’t of said it.

He knew I was going to use the rack next, so why deliberately press the bar in the air and put it on the highest rung on the rack(about 7’)? Who the fuck does that?

I would probably be a douche too if my toilets drained in the wrong direction.

Same here. I think I passed 120 in like 4th grade.

Yep, that was kind of douche-i-fied if he did it on purpose.

Agreed. Why should the guy move in that situation? How is this guy a “douche” because he wouldn’t jump out of your way? It isn’t anyone else’s responsibility to accommodate you simply because YOU were late.

Now OP, go sit in the corner and think about what you have done.

LOL

I remember weighing 135 in 7th grade. I was also like 5’2 or something.

What happens if you flush a toilet at the equator, I wonder?

Well then, obviously you are all douches. j/k

I don’t really care what you do in the power rack or squat rack as long as you’re not curling. But to be honest, I’d always assumed that the static hold while you’re rowing was alot more wear and tear on your spinal erectors than merely lifting the barbell.

Of course, I’ve never rowed more than 200lbs, so it’s really very little strain on my lower back anyway. I suppose that if you’re rowing 300+lbs, lifting the barbell off the ground could be something of a pain in the back (so to speak).

Yep - I think people have been brainwashed by the “curling in the squat rack” issue. Just because someone isn’t actually squatting doesn’t mean they’re in the wrong and should move to accommodate you.

Honestly, the only person in the situation acting like a douche was you…
hardgnr wrote:

Why should you have a beef? If anything, he should be annoyed with you even SUGGESTING he move…

Anyway you slice it, you were 100 % wrong here, and you pissed the guy off enough for him to rack the bar really high, obviously because you annoyed the shit out of him in the first place…

For the record, toilets here have about 1/10 of the water of american toilets. I have no idea why you guys need a toilet bowl 3/4 full of water to flush a shit. That being said, it doesn’t have time to twirl. It just splashes around for a second and its full again. Your theory is invalid.

Lol, that’s taking it a bit far. IF the reason this guy placed the bar so high was to piss off the OP, he’s a childish douchebag. Granted, the OP was in the wrong first by asking him to move. Let us hope he didn’t ask in the middle of a set.
