I have not posted in quite a while, however I have a very odd piece of information as far as acquiring testosterone goes. If this has already been addressed, please link me to the post. Otherwise, here is my question/ information.
First off to keep it simple, I have been on TRT through my primary doctor for a little over 2 years. I have been receiving one 10 mL bottle of 200mg/ mL cypionate every 10 weeks (200mg/week) And for reference I live in Illinois.
As of this most recent attempt at renewal through Walgreens (and Jewel and CVS), they will no longer provide a 10 mL bottle. They will only provide four 1 mL bottles at a time. The reason I was told, is because after a bottle of testosterone is opened, it is told to me as of recently that it expires in 28 days. I have never heard or read this. I am very confident that is not correct, because the definition of expired should be losing potency or possibly becoming hazardous to health. Neither have occurred with blood work to confirm health and potency. And then when asking why I can only receive one month worth of prescription opposed to the normal 10 weeks, it is an alleged new form of control through insurance companies.
This topic frustrates me not simply because of the increase in inconvenience, but for the fact that these companies are spreading false information to gain a new level of control. I am also not sure if this is local, or nationwide? Does anyone have knowledgeable input?
I only have anecdotal input. I have diagnosed hypogonadism and used to get my T through CVS. I would also only receive 1ml vials albeit they would give me 4 per month. Never asked why at the time.
I go to Defy now because of the knowledge their docs have. Yeah insurance used to pay for my treatment but my endo didn’t know much about TRT. Compounding pharmacies through all the clinics give you larger multiuse vials.
Happened to me also with pharmacies around here last year. I just kept calling pharmacies until I found one with access to 10 ml vials. Usually pharmacies with surgical devices have more access to various drugs.
many manufacturers are phasing these out because the guidelines don’t make it practical for personal use. technically the MDV is suppose to be tossed after 28 days, but no guy actually does that on the doses we’re taking. the SDV make way more sense from their point of view.
this has to do with some FDA bullshit i believe. even DEFY only has 5ml bottles now (at nearly same price as prev 10).
I personally completely abandoned prescribed TRT+clinics and will do solely UGL TRT now while getting blood-work through my general doc. this costs me virtually nothing (got high end employer health ins).
Defy has been using Empower Pharms 5mL vials for at least 4 years (that’s when I left them anyway). that’s not new. I don’t think the FDA bullshit (whatever that is) had anything to do with manufactures phasing out MDVs.
i got my last defy 10ml bottle about 6 months ago or so. and they had all the 10ml option. now in the defy store there is not a single 10ml option. something changed recently.
Yup.. PURE BS. Used to cost me $38 for one 10ml, now over $100 for the exact same amount (10- 1ml). $60 extra for “packaging”??? Safety?? Again BS. I’ve been taking for over 10 years… I 10ml lasting almost 6 months… No adverse affects. How many vials of whatever are on a Doctors shelf? Do they just go through and throw em out every month? This is gouging, plain and simple.. pure GREED. IF I ever find a foreign source that will ship in, you can bet I’ll use them. Really, Really PO’d here… For me, this is a needed medication…. and of course, not cov4red by my worthless MANDATED $50 a month prescription plan…
