Well look at you. I dont normally respond to these types of posts but apparently someone has been watching FSN lately and now thinks he is an expert on all things MMA (few things irritate me more)…except K1 (except for Hero’s) isn’t MMA and I can name numerous former UFC fighters who have fought and won “at a Pride fight.” Not to mention the Pride fighters who have fought and lost in the UFC, Pride’s reigning MW champ included.
Quite thinking you are cool just because you’ve seen a Pride fight or two…

No doubt. Though I must say that we are often not very newbie friendly. There are many people who are just ignorant. And some of those who no doubt could’ve benefited from the information here are turned off by the approach and leave. I do think this is the case although they arguably don’t have thick enough skin to be here in the first place.

As far as the post… I agree with some before me. This is a site with opinionated people on it which come here from all walks. It is to be expected that we all won’t agree and I find this good. I don’t find the “Jock” 'tude that is displayed in the gym more often than not cool. However I don’t know any of you, more than internet posters so I have no idea what kind of attitude you carry with you in the gym or anywhere else.
I think we can pull a couple things from the original post:
1.) Yes there are some stupid questions asked on this forum. But don’t forget that we all at one time or another were newbs. (not saying that some razing isn’t deserved).
2.) UFC, MMA, Pride… ok whatever you want to believe is better, seriously they all fight, just watch whichever one you want and keep in mind someone else will always think your dude/league is a schmoe. Don’t take offense to it.
3.) Bruce Lee vs. whoever … same as #2. Does it really matter if Bruce Lee could kick Steve Austin or HHH or whoever’s ass? Maybe if you talk enough shit a bruce lee encarnate will show up and kick all of our asses. Why don’t we compare military leaders while we are at it. I think patton would have wooped napolean’s ass. There.
If I never see Bruce fucking Lee’s name on these forums again it will be a happy day.

Sometimes newb’s need to ask less questions and just pick up a f’ing weight. Read books, look in websites, ask questions…but go out and TRAIN! That’s where you’ll learn what you need to do to to achieve your physique goals. If they didn’t ask so many stupid ass questions then we could keep flaming to a bare minimum.
Because this site has unwritten standards that are threatened eveyday by waves of 120 pound skeletons that want to cut. This is a bodybuilding site. The goal is to get big. Not to reveal some stupid fucking hip bone that some might think is attractive. If it weren’t for the vets here bashing all the newbs then there would be thousands of ignorant posts everyday. People who are new here should read the articles first before posting. This is a hardcore bodybuilding site. If you can’t handle the posts that keep it that way then go to a different website.

One very recent post went something to the effect of, “I am wondering if I should join a gym or simply buy weights and train at home…thank you for the responses. Is there anything else I should know before I get started?” This line of thinking made ZERO sense to me. I would have never, as a beginner, asked anyone what I should do BEFORE I get started. I was watching other people lift. I was in the gym following the technique of others who seemed to actually know what they were doing. I would guess this is how most people learned before the internet allowed such personal computer sideline wannabe trainers to simply talk about working out instead of doing it at all.
Also, I think much of this shit can be kept to a minimum if it is drilled that this IS a bodybuilding website. If you want it to be “120lbs guys with abs.com”, no one really gives a shit. There are other websites that cater to that line of thinking. Why try to change this site into that?
