Whose Advice Can I Trust?

Don’t know if you want to edit his place on the list, but Stu competes and has his pro card. Maraudermeat used to compete in bodybuilding and I believe still completes in powerlifting. Just FYI.

Hey, I just read through the posts from last night/this morning. I wanted to make a correction, since it relates to potentially the 2 most successful bodybuilders on this site.

Pwrbarboy and Prisoner are NOT the same person. Pwrbarboy is much more accomplished, and could potentially compete in a future olympia. Prisoner isn’t on that level. Prisoner sort of attacked pwrbarboy in his original RMP thread, saying pwrbarboy didn’t have the right frame/genetics/whatever for success. Since then, they’ve squashed their beef.

But again, not the same person. Both guys are great sources of knowledge for guys who really want to be competitive, but neither posts here anymore, maybe every now and then just to update what they’re doing.

Fixed

Just when I thought I couldn’t want to hug you enough. Well played, Huckleberry.

I love the spirit of this thread. Great idea. And thanks for the mention.

Along with what Flip just pointed out though, pwrbarboy is Aaron Clark, so they don’t need to be listed separately. It’s been mentioned in other threads, so I don’t believe I’m “outing” anyone’s online anonymity.

Derek542 (a.k.a. DJHT) is another reliable guy with a legit medical background. I think he mainly hangs around the Over-35 forum and Get a Life, but his training/health info is solid. Even though he does Crossfit. (I kid, because I care.)

John Schlecht (a.k.a. Synergy) is a trainer, former NFL player, bodybuilding competitor, and that big mofo you’ve seen on the front page training in Colorado with Thibaudeau and John Meadows. Um, I’d take advice from him.

Last thing, not sure how much it matters, but a handful of the people on the list haven’t actually posted in a while for various reasons, but their input in older threads is certainly still solid.

Yes, and you’ll probably find more gold in old posts than anything new.

Almost anything in the T-Cell can be trusted. Lots of roundtables for most bodyparts:

This place used to be great.

This place is still great. But the guys from 10 years ago aren’t going to carry the torch forever. The beginners have to learn from the success stories, and become great themselves. Then give back to the community.

All the guys you mentioned are great for the list. I think that would put the list to about 30 or more solid posters. I don’t think that’s bad at all.

Also @Colucci, absolutely on Synergy, I just assumed since he’s all over the livespill/cover page that everyone had at least an awareness of how assume the dude is. Good call on DJHT as well, he offers a great perspective that isn’t particularly common.

That’s the plan!

Like Mr. Colucci, I, too, love the spirit of this thread. I lurked for maybe six months or so before signing up. There’s lots of gold to be found in the archives by using the search function. The individuals named in this thread have all provided solid advice. As a beginner (and as someone starting out relatively later in life than perhaps most folks), I know I’ve learned a lot by reading as much as I can. A big thanks to everyone mentioned. It takes dedication and commitment and time to give back to the community. It’s a selfless act, and it deserves recognition.

Thank you, Cuso. Really great idea. And thank you, Biotest, for hosting this forum and providing the opportunity to learn.

Ouroboro and kpsnap could be in like super smart powerlifting women category, or something.

They both always say really smart shit.

Looks like work. Next time I have an idea, I’m just going to write myself a memo.

Thank you Chris Colucci for your blessing and input, and Flipcollar for this:

nuff said.

You should un-nominate FlipCollar cuz he and i had a disagreement once, and he said biceps curls are the devil and give all beginners cancer…true story (though I may be remembering some of the details slightly off)

If you guys have logs or progress threads from big/veteran members here that you want me to add to the Best of T-Nation sticky, just link them here and I can do so.

Hi mr popular, thanks for visiting!

Your “Best of T-Nation” thread was one of my first starting points here, and it helped me an awful lot to put my short & medium term goals in perspective.

As a member of the over 50 club, I tend to look for lifters in my age group and check out what they do. While searching I found the training log of Charles Staley, who also is a contributer to T-Nation. Even if I myself haven’t been around long enough to judge anything, to me this man seems almost “diabolical” in his precise, organized progressions to achieve measurable goals. He also has lots of really good videos in his log.

I think that a beginner (especially power/oly lifters) could only profit from his wisdom, and clear structured workouts. If you’d like to link his log in the best of, here it is:

http://tnation.T-Nation.com/free_online_forum/blog_sports_body_training_performance_bodybuilding_log/charles_staleys_journal?id=4905133&pageNo=0

or you can just leave it here in this beginner help thread, and I’ll add him to my list.

holy shit, i got nominated!
You can also trust my nutritional advice too, see, I’m wearing a chefs hat

Did you get that 100kg OHP, caveman?

Wow, thanks for the nod guys. Means a lot. I’ll keep trying to improve myself so my advise means that much more to those that want it.

The list looks pretty great so far. Its nice to take stalk of the community we have built here. This is a real “meeting place” for a lot of us, and its cool to see the best of the best get noticed for their hard, free, work.

2nd Gregron,

also MODOK and Bonez217 (not sure if they post anymore, but knowledgable none the less!)

Bonez left after a e-battle with X. Still a lot of good info in his old posts though.

Bonez left because his girlfriend thought he was spending too much time on this site.
