The oil is incredible…recommended to mix with diluted water (burns like the Dickens if you don’t). I did put the oil on full strength when I had elbow pain and the pain subsided in a few hours.

Pfft! Do men actually hide from you.

Hahaha! Aw this made my day thank you ![]()
Maybe it is some elaborate hide and seek game? Or, I am eskeery.
Well, here’s to another day without pain/pain killers!!
My ortho prescribed me some but I’m not taking them yet.
Mini, I was thinking about this morning when I was hit with an epiphany about your back problems…I was thinking have you ever considered during yoga or pilates? Yoga has many testimonies from those with back issues who were able to overcome them through yoga. I think (of course, I could be wrong) that Pilates may address these issues too. Thoughts?
Matty & Cav, good to know it works for so many. I’ve never really gotten any energy from it, actually it can be quite calming for me. Sigh, dropped half of my magnesium this morning.
Hallie & MiM’s my PW’s!
Kairiki, I’ve actually been doing bits of yoga for yonks now, starting in primary school even. Got really into Ivengar for awhile and what different positions are healing for things. Not to mention my wimmenz cycle again, but found some great moves for cramps. The last few years I would do different short sequences depending on what my body needed, maybe twice a week.
However, I do not think that yoga helps all types of back pains for everyone. There are some positions like the twists which can actually make things worse for some people. My scoliosis used to bother me more, it wasn’t actually until I starting lifting that it calmed it down, may have lulled me into a false sense of security that I stopped paying attention to it. The thing is I’m just starting to realise exactly what sort of strengthening exercises I need to do for it, now.
I’ve done a couple of classes on pilates, its ok. Although the week before my back episode, I had just signed up for pilates at lunch time, just to do something different. I do need to work on my posture, at work especially and I find I wake up in strange positions when I sleep that bothers my back.
By the by, if anyone has any suggestions on an exercise to work me glutes without involving my back would love to know. I’m doing my wrist exercises for when I get back to snatching, they are too bendy & weakly at the moment.
I have nothing constructive to add, but I see you postin’ around all over the place so I thought I would pop in and wish you luck on recovery!
Do glute bridges add much back emphasis?

Check out Bret Contreras site for suggesting on glutes…he isn’t called The Glute Guy for nothing. ![]()
spock, yes our posts keep virtually bumping into each other. Thanks for stopping by to say hi.
Frozenkilt, argh no I tried the bridges too. But this week I called a truce with the muskles, only mobility stuff.
Kairiki, for being called The Glute Guy, I really expected to see some nice pics of his glutes somewhere on his site at least. I thought sex sells??? I did find one exercise, Jane Fonda/Kathy Smith style that I might try out though, it keeps a neutral posture. But that’s for next week.
My rolfing appointment didn’t go as planned. She started to work on my thoracic area, but this headache I’ve had since Friday turned into a full blown migraine, so she helped me with that, took me through some guided pain management techniques. I actually started crying.
She says I’m pretty tense & wound up, like literally every where she touched me on my upper body was extremely tight & knotted up, from my jaw to my abs. She thinks things have been like that for months now. My posture is pretty tight & pulled in as well. She says my lower body seems to be strong & supportive enough though.
Ah well guess I’m learning loads about my body. Anyway I had to give into pain killers but at least it wasn’t for my back, just my head.
I ran into one of the weightlifters in my gym too on the way in, got lots of sympathy. I miss snatching.

Just to keep things in perspective.
Rolfing is fantastic- it hurts and actually alot of people cry during it
its not just the pain - its the release of fascia
can you do bird dogs? good for glute activation and troubled backs
Hey kmcnyc, thanks for the advice. Yeah she didn’t quite actually get to really do the rolfing part. But I did learn I have loads of baggage in my body, getting the migraine was just another thing, I have a feeling when she does go to work on me, there will be lots more crying.
I was given the bird dog to do, can only do about 2 reps before things seize up, but yes its on my list. I’ve done them before, but going to make a point of doing them from now on even when I get all patched up.
So you’re spasasming everywhere? Not good! Good luck with the rolfing.
Years ago I had problems with tight muscles and did exercises to loosen them up - think it was called Somatics or something.
I am the worst doctor in the world. I am willing to fondle oogle grope hump and flash though!

Sounds like you’d be great playing doctor.
wow, stopping in and sorry to read about your pain. I’m sure you will find something soon to relieve some of it. You seem very determined.
