Who You Jivin With That Cosmik Debris

Aye, the evil backpacks…I knew them well. The tablet idea would be fabulous although you have to factor in the electromagnetic pollution and the like bombarding the person using them. Always something, right?

Yeah, like cell phones being proven to increase the risk of brain cancer. No, seriously, they do.

cavalier, if its not one thing is another (ooof I sound like my mother now)!

frozenkilt, ok usually not a prude but ew. No not that kind of doggy therapy, didn’t get to see the dog anyway :frowning: I just couldn’t do much over the weekend.

charles, again thanks for brightening up my log.

Kairiki, they are very evil. You think I would’ve learned my lesson too. Because I travel a lot on public transport I was carrying around a backpack again, sometimes filled with grocery shopping & all. I put a stop to that.

Rehab exercises, they are not much but its a starting point, I had to even break down the number of reps from what the Physio recommended. Things were just seizing up, so I’m baby stepping it through.

Trying to do these twice a day

Mid back side stretch ( 2 variations)
Four Point (which is basically a breakdown of the bird dog) - 4 reps on each limb
Lower back stretch (this one kinda irks me) - 2 reps
Arm raises (concentrating on keeping the scalp down) - 2 reps
Back stretch (concentrating on getting the scalps in & down) - 4 reps
Back stretch (childs pose) - as long as needed
Shoulder retraction (this is done sitting & keeping shoulder blades in) - 4 reps
Thoracic Rotation - 4 reps
Hip flexion stretch - as long as needed
Hamstring stretch - 10 seconds
Quad stretch - 10 seconds
Calf stretch - 10 seconds
Reverse planks (need to do it elbows on a bench/table) - 20 seconds

And I’m going to make it to the pool on Wed & elliptical trainer sometime this week too. Hopefully make it out to the sea over the weekend too. I have an appt with a Rolfer on Sat.

Shit, some of these exercises are seizing me up. Not doing the lower back stretch, my osteo said he didn’t like it anyway, too much extension for me and my back agrees. Thoracic rotation, er need to do this very very gently, seized up on the right side.

Last night was a bad night, I tried to hold off on the drugs. I felt ok after the osteo but a few hours later things were hurting again, did some stretches, tried to take a hot bath–taking one still bothers my back but it was one of my only refuges that actually calms me down, :frowning:
Then did tried to do some relaxation & telling myself that the pain was only my back trying to realign itself. None of that worked finally gave into the pain killers at least to sit up and eat.

I’ve seem to have lost some weight too, maybe an inch or so which probably means some muscle as well, sigh.
3 steps back the last few days.

MM, I need to introduce you to my friend on the boards here: Mr. Eccentric…he was able to get off of all his pain meds and go natural solutions (e.g. herbs, etc). You two would click. Guaranteed.

Thanks Kairiki! I’m just sick of popping pills.

I don’t have much to say today, except I strained something either my lat, teres muscles or wtf!

THis really sucks…

I know whatcha mean about pills…blech.

Hope you feel better!

hang in there, mini~

Hope you feel better soon.

My back is fucked up and I am a FZ fan too.

I’ll be following

MiMsy, thanks, I know you know frustration!

Kairiki, aw a teddy bear.

Edgy, thanks I’m hanging.

Cava, again thanks I do feel better today. I just have to accept this is going to be a rollercoaster ride, the thing is I get dizzy/wuzzy on rollercoasters. I just hope I don’t sound too whingy.

jasmincar, glad to see another FZ fan, not glad to hear about another fucked up back though, this is STILL the best damn interview EVER!!

So no painkillers yesterday, YAY!, but I did just keep thinking how I wanted the day to end before I needed any. Might have a glass (or two) of wine tonight.

Taking magnesium (internally & externally), drinking valerian tea at night, and going to try to eat more anti-inflammatory stuff. Green tea with chilli all day, chilli on everything (love chilli). I did a nice little stir fry thing with chilli, ginger, garlic & shallots, saved some & had some with eggs for breakfast, think I’ll make that and just put it on everything.

Think I’m going about this wrong, going to concentrate on mobility and stretching for the next week. Maybe just do 1 strengthening exercise per day that doesn’t cause any seizing up. Then work from there. Anyway Rolfer tomorrow, should be interesting.

I screwed my back in a car crash and had problems walking. My final solution was the ab wheel (with good form). The ab wheel is basically that wheel with a handle running through it, that was mainly advertised for ladies in the 80’s.

I did 2 sets of max 10 reps with good form a couple of times a week and the pain started to disappear and the mobility returned. I was kneeling. I recovered and I think it is the wheel that made the difference. I tried physio, acupuncture, planks and loads more, but the change was the wheel. Something about the wheel vs. planks that made the difference for me. At that time they wanted to put me into traction!

Years have passed and currently I super-set the wheel with a swiss-ball crunch for 2 sets once a week. That keeps everything good. If I miss the wheel for 2 weeks I start feeling ‘something’ and I get the wheel out ASAP.

My injury - I’m stopped in traffic and the driver behind me fell asleep. He drove into the back of my car at about 100mph. My car seat collapsed and my spine stretched before ramming down again. It also got my sciatic nerve.

Now I have tendinitis, but have made a few tweaks that are starting to help that too. I will make a post if I have success.

naxis thanks, I will keep that in mind. I’ve been in 2 car crashes but nothing as serious as that.

Ooo got some fancy wording from my osteopath that he sent to my Dr “upper back pain accompanied by bilateral hypochondrial pain and epigastric pain” interesting.

No Rolfing for me tomorrow, was really looking forward to it. She had to change it to Tues morning.

Unfortunately no fun pics showed up in google image when I googled"upper back pain accompanied by bilateral hypochondrial pain and epigastric pain", not even the mysterious bacon bikini which shows up in all my google images showed up in this one.

Doesn’t sound fun especially not with the word pain showing up three times.:-/

Bravo on the Magnesium! Are you referring to magnesium oil? Truth be told, this may be the key to healing. Have you read any of the work of Mark Sircus about magnesium oil?: http://bit.ly/ycKjZ5

I was giddy when I read you were doing natural solutions!

Ha, thanks for even trying Charlie, I might make a poem out of it though, lots of things rhyme with pain.

Kairiki, I take magnesium for other things, kinda helps for my wimmenz time. Actually I was just looking up the oil last week, happy to see that it is transdermal. Had my doubts because not all oil molecules get into the skin.

Think today might be another day without any pain killers. Did some light work, only a few twitches here & there. I can’t sit at my desk for nothing though, I’m so behind in work its going to become a problem, sigh.

Bah there’s a weightlifting comp tomorrow, I can’t even go down to watch it. There is a touch of spring around though, hope it stays.

Im a big fan of the Magnesium myself, not so much for the PMS lol, but for the heart and mental health aspects of it not to mention it gives me a little boost of energy as well
