I’d like to see that prescription.
Pharmacist: A cabana boy. Hmm
Minimal: Yeah, it’s for pain relief. Do you have any in stock?
Pharmacist: Sorry, we just ran out.

If that happens, just call the doctor. I’m sure they will say to two pool boys and call them back in the morning.
Boys, pfft, wasn’t interested in boys even when I was a girl, give me real men.
Ack my log was almost on page 2. Did some lifting stuff & some other stuff, and lots of pain stuff to whine about later, let’s just say pain killers are back on the menu.
I would stay away from the squats and snatches for a few months. Take your time and do not do any undue exercises that may keep you from healing that back area. You could do leg presses which but less strain on your back. Upper body should not be too much to handle.
Also something I had great luck with for my back a long time ago was an inversion table to stretch out the vertebrae in the back. You slowly turn your body upside down on this table for several minutes and slowly try to extend the time a little longer each session. Rehabs have them. Makes a world of difference.
Wishing you well.
…and I’ll bump you so you don’t hit page two!
Thanks cormhona, wouldn’t want to get lost in the ether.
Hi duke6j, I would love an inversion table, unfortunately so far none of the professionals that I’ve been to have them. They don’t seem to be that common around here. I mainly seem to have indirect back problems, at the moment we are working on hip/pelvis stability. So I’m only doing things light or well relatively light anyway. I’m taking things down a notch for the moment until I start to feel better. This week seems to be mostly my diaphragm area that is really giving me grief, mainly when sitting at work and then also wakes me up at night.
Went to the PT on friday, will document that later.
So Sun workout was something like this
7 min cross trainer, did a couple of minutes more to loosen things up
face pulls, no moneys, rear lunges BW & 15kg, 8kg goblet squats,
lots of BW rear lunges in between, trying to stretch things out.
stiff leg deadlift, PT gave me these with some tweaks but don’t think I like the tweaks. anyway will work on them as a warm up for now
1 x 8 - 16kg KB
DB deadlifts
3 x 10 - 20kgea
KB Twisty Rows
1 x 10 on bench, - 6kg
2 x 10 squat - 8kg
Accidently picked up the 8 by mistake and didn’t even realise it. Also if I concentrate on squeezing my bum back & together, feels better than leaning on the bench, which was the opposite last time I tried these.
Oh yeah and a few circuits of the KB Bear w/ modified tweaks with 8kg KB’s. Feel these more in the shoulders.
LOADS of stretching, got one of the rounded DB’s and started to poke & prod around my hip flexors for a good long while. Jacuzzi

Picturing…did you get any strange looks?
Good that you are still plugging away. You feel they are making progress?
minimaltechno,
Call around and find a good rehab center and ask if they have one. If not keep trying. Some chiropractors may also have one.
All I can say is you will not be disappointed and your back will feel a great deal better.
If you have the cash, you can check around and maybe buy a used one. Used or new they both give the same benefits.
By the time I pay someone else for rehab I might as well buy one myself. I’ve put it on the santa list, guess we’ll see how long it takes to get the cash for one, need to make room for one though.
So finally got the supplements I ordered from here, took 3 months to get it from my friend. Kudos to those V-Diet people who can drink that protein shake for 4 weeks. Got some Surge Workout Fuel, but in hindsight maybe creatine would’ve been better. But I did get some Ribose (locally) based on a recommendation, not only for workouts but to help with pain management. Not sure if it will help but was told to give it a try, have about 20 days worth of 5g a day. Can’t really do the pain killers.
Hoping to feel better later this week so I can try the surge stuff, I’ve been having to sleep with an extra pillow under my right side of the rib cage, but still no decent sleep for the last 5 days. I can feel my muscles getting smaller and the fat getting bigger.
Ive used that inversion table…good for my back, but dang it killled my ankles. The pressure from the straps on ankles.
You will love the surge, its still one of my favorites. I love how that and the plasma give me the go go go but no crash.
I almost always drink them with no flavoring, but have since fell in love with the LIME flavor, which did you get?
Ditto for me with the inversion table, Up. Ankles are uncomfortable, plus I tend to slide a bit so it irritates the skin - but it doesn’t stop me using it because the benefits outweight that discomfort. TMI moment: I have dermatographia so any foam roller / lax ball work makes my skin red and itchy after using.
Ok so that’s 3 votes for an inversion table. I would like to log something constructive but I did nothing of the sort today, except for walking & some stretching. I’m at least hoping the Surge gets me to the gym to do something tomorrow.

Not as strange of a look as I gave the guy who walked in the sauna fully clothed (& this is off the pool area), then proceeded to take of his shoes & socks and just sit in there with clothes. At least he could’ve showered!
That’s odd…I can’t imagine a clothed sauna. Is there a mental institution or crack house near your gym?
One of the older karate instructors I know liked the inversion table for his back, but wanted something a little more for at home. He built a two part table with straps, and hooked up a power winch to it. He swears it was good, except for the one time when he had a problem with the off switch on the winch and it got away on him a little. He is OK now though.
The only thing I could think of was he wanted to sweat in his workout clothes to pretend someone that he did actually workout? I don’t know, didn’t want to actually start a conversation with him.
Hmmm, I might skip the DIY inversion table, sounds like a snuff movie thing.
Oh and the Metabolic protein stuff tastes waaaaay better with milk instead of water.
Today was a bit better, finding I’m leaning on my left side at my desk that may be one of the problems.
Surge stuff is ok, I got the lime but due to postal restrictions couldn’t be sent the flavour, so just choked it down. Makes me hungry though, hmmm.
WARM UP
5 min cross trainer,
face pulls, no moneys, rear lunges BW & 15kg, 8kg goblet squats,
lots of BW rear lunges
SESSION
KB presses
3 x 5 - 12kg
BB Front Squats (forgot fingers splayed)
3 x 10 - 15kg
Good Mornings
3 x 15 - 25kg
A bit of a jog, 10 minutes, stretching & jacuzzi.
Just about every ache and pain I get goes back to how I sit at a desk or what position I’m sleeping in.
I don’t know if I support jogging but kudos on the jacuzziing.
Cormhona, yeah another PT mentioned it to me before about how I may be sitting. I changed a few things around the desk. However I think its still some what of a habit. I mentioned this to the new PT but he didn’t quite give me the response I thought, don’t know, that’s now 3 iffy things he has said to me, but guess they can’t all be perfect, I just have to know what to listen to.
I do feel much much better today, and yesterday wasn’t too bad as well. Amazing how certain pains can change attitude/personality. I had to sleep with the yoga block and pillow on my right side but seems to have helped stretch things out. I did have to take some pain killers at 3am, as I needed some sleep.
Still going to take things handy next week, so don’t expect lots of volume from me. And don’t worry I’m just doing some light jogging, maybe some steep incline walking too. I can’t seem to get my speed up in the mornings for walking to work. I used to be able to move faster.
You sure do have a lot of aches and pains, way to keep at this with the obstacles you face. I guess starting later in life, nothings caught up to me yet, or so Ive heard.
I was trying to find the article on here that had some hanging things you could do with out the flip thing, sorry couldnt find it. Ill take another stab it it when I get a chance.
Really on the Surge? Dang, my body is uber sensitive, I am pretty in tune with it anyway. Love Surge, and I almost always drank it straight up, as i didnt have the lime flavor. I dont put a whole lot in it anyway. Got a thing with coloring. Anyway Ive notived when doing my floor core work I have to really concentrate and keep both sides of my erectors down, at least im aware of it, to work on it.
The jacuzzi has been so great for my traps and ankles…well everything , but esp those bps I tend to neglect.
Hope it is mostly a posture thing. You can never tell with a PT, some are good some suck, and some do both, it just depends on what your problem is. I guess you can jog if you want to.
Good luck!
Went swimming on Friday, going back to just using arms & not kicking.
Got home after work had some wine. Woke up for the shits & giggles, well sans the giggles part. Was able to finally eat something this afternoon. TMI…but my stomach never looked flatter after emptying it. Don’t know what I ate or if it was a bug.
Need to lift something tomorrow.
