Do you have any recommended forearm and bicep prehab/rehab/exercise timing ideas? One of my bigger issues is the combination of my work and hobbies leads to very, very tight forearm flexor, particularly those attached to my ring and pinky finger. Bicep work doesn’t make these were per se, but it does make me a little more tentative doing everyday activities.
Due to some things outside my control, I went ahead and started leaning out this past Saturday. I know it’s early for this thread (I don’t know that an official date was decided on). If we just want to make it a timed event, so you start when you want and have x number of days, I’ll be in.
Yogi and others, it alright if I go ahead and post and update here or should I take it somewhere else?
all good as far as I’m concerned, mate. Just post it wherever.
The details haven’t really been ironed out in terms of start and end. I was personally planning on cutting in Jan and probably finishing up around June, but that’s not to say that we all need to do it by then.
So anyway, a bunch of stars have aligned to push me into just trying to get into shape above and beyond what I’ve done at this point in my life. Primarily the fact that I recently re-re-re-re injured a spinal erector. I have been focused on Olympic lifting and getting back into powerlifting, but it just isn’t going to happen anytime soon. I went and did a shoulder workout and worked on some jerks (something I still though I could do) but ended up with my back in knots from just jerking. So, with all ties to Olympic lifting and powerlifting currently severed, screw it, I want to get ripped. This coincided with my seasonal transition to evening workouts (where I have a little more time for volume) and morning fasting (where it’s easier to control my diet for cutting), so it kinda turns out perfect.
I started back into bodybuilding style training about 2 weeks ago after not doing any for the past year+ so I’m still easing into the volume and intensity.
I’m doing low carb 8/16 intermittent fasting feeding from about 12:30 to 8:30
My current split is:
Chest/triceps
Back/biceps
Legs
Shoulders/calves
Full body eccentric-less recovery
Repeat as needed
I also train at home which is pretty challenging with my current physical limits, but I’m creative.
Initial stats:
5’10” – 196 pounds – 33 years old
(and I’ll include the obligatory notation that I don’t know how to pose)
Right on man, good luck and I look forward to following along with your progress. Delt veins already spotted, you are going be a veiny bastard at sub 10% bf!
I don’t know shit about shit, but that front double bi shot makes me think you’re going to look pretty damn good when you get shredded.
Thanks guys I am open to constructive criticism too. I’d actually really like to bring up my chest, I always think I look 10 times better with a chest pump:
Im cool with that, While it has the word “contest” in the title, Its basically just a “get in great shape 2017” - The target date of June 1 just makes it so there is something to shoot for, and a date to end the madness for those who want to take it to the limit.
i stopped posting shirtless pics on my instagram account and told my followers that i will be in the best shape of my life on 01.06.2017.
i am that pumped.
not too much to criticise, really. Very thick and strong looking. Your chest does seem to lag a little in the side pose to my eyes. Maybe more upper chest work?
You’re bigger than I am, for sure. I’m going to have to hope I can hammer you on conditioning! Haha
Agree with Yogi: You have a thick, strong-looking physique. So far as areas that may be lagging…Tough to be sure from the pics provided, but your delts look like you have focused more on pressing movements than medial/rear-delt isolation movements. Thus, I would suggest training delts in more of a BBer style, so they will appear more 3-D and ‘capped’ when you lean out.
You mean just building a big overhead and bench won’t build balanced looking shoulders? Crap.
Yeah, I have moved all my remaining pressing to behind the neck (light klokov presses), but I should probably consider moving my focus on all the isolation stuff to medial and rear delts.
Any tips on pics? I may need to recruit my wife to help.
I think the pics are ok, though you should try to get your entire body in the pic. This will help people judge proportions and your physical structure.
Try to be consistent in where you take them, what angle, lighting etc. Makes it easier for comparisons.
When you learn front and rear relaxed pose that will help people critique your physique better as well.
Nice, I have never done anything like this and I am suuuuper fat right now.
I’m 6’5.5" woke up at 292 this morning, going to be a long long road.
Fat powerlifter checking in! I just took this picture yesterday. I’ll do some actual poses for a real baseline soon. Should be a fun comp! Also I’m like exactly the same size as duce. 195ish, 5’10.
Yeah, no.
Same height and weight maybe, not exactly the same size……
anyone else want to ban Flip from entering?
It will actually be interesting. If the judging is for transformation and NOT for end product, it may be harder for him. If it’s just for end product, yeah, already lost.
haha, yeah, our only hope is that Flip’s already in such awesome shape he can’t improve enough!
Just wanted to say I’ve been following this thread along. Great idea, everyone.
I think this is kinda key and something people can focus on to avoid one more excuse not to start. It’s not necessarily a “contest” to see who ends up looking best at the end. It’s more a call to arms, giving everyone a legit reason to really buckle down and drive towards getting something done. Any details about “winners” or criteria for “judging” best progress can be sorted out and nailed down along the way.
June 1 is exactly 31 weeks from today. Go for it.
Although, I do think we need a catchier name for it. “Friendly Forum Comp” just isn’t cutting it. I’m thinking of The T-ransformation. See… because it’s about physique transformation, and transformation starts with a T, and it’s T Nation and… oh, nevermind.
