Yes, and a vote for McCain is a vote for a socialist with no respect for the 1st amendment, American sovereignty or capitalism just to name a few failings. I will not be their bitch.

This is an absolute joke. As soon as a government expresses this level of insecurity about it’s currency the game is over.
I hate to break it to you sunshine, but this is exactly how money worked before the gold standard was dropped a few decades back. Dropping the gold standard is also one of the biggest factors contributing to the rampant inflation we have seen in generations.
It’s a simple and tried method for maintaining the value of a unit of currency. The current system has no real backing.
You clearly missed my point. Congratulations.

I agree. I think McCain will take it by a nose.

Obama’s key supporters are the young and minorities. They have never turned out and will not in this election based on registrations. They just don’t.
I half agree. I think minorities (at least Blacks) will turn out to the polls in record numbers. The youth, however, will turn out in similar numbers to the last two cycles…perhaps a slight increase.

Yup. CNN always has Obama up by a lot more than most. Guess polls can be worked any way Mr. Soros wants 'em.
Obama is up by about 6 on average. Therefore, McCain wins by about 2%. Don’t be near any cities the next day, btw.

(1) America is getting older —> McCain
(2) America is very racist -----> McCain
(3) Economy will stabilize -----> McCain
Long term that’s bad because IMHO we are just on the beginning cusp of a global depression and a transfer of hegemony to China, as happened 1929 - 1945. The idiots will blame, of all things, McCain and conservatism. McCain is about as conservative as a bag of doughnuts.

I suggest a better election. Which is better: doughnuts or donuts? My vote is for the latter.

I really don’t think they are credible now.
I was surprised to learn on “CBS” yesterday how many of these Polls are dependent on Land Based phones. I don’t remember the numbers exactly, but I’ll see if I can find it…but almost 15% of Americans no longer even HAVE a land-based phone line.
The other thing is the “mis-information” that is surely given out when these Polls are taken. There is no way to verify the exact numbers, but I would bet that it is not a small number.
This election is close, folks.
Mufasa
I agree that it is close and will not end up in a landslide. However, the fact that many people do not have land-lines is not a positive point for McCain.
Who is likely NOT to have a land-line? Younger folks who are also (if you believe the polls) more likely to lean towards Obama. Therefore, the lack of land-lines woudl not help McCain’s numbers. in fact, they would probably hurt his actual numbers.
My point in this thread is that losing in ALL of the polls is never a good thing- even if it is only a few points.

Question for sloth. You comments on ‘Newerest Deal’ seem ironic, given that you chose a National Reconstruction Act poster as your avitar. The NRA was a cornerstone of the original New Deal. Do you think that the New Deal was a success or a disaster for the US?

Disaster.

This is an interesting point. We all remember the Deaniacs; they managed to turn out busloads of supporters to work Iowa, but they only turned out a small fraction of the democratic faithful that caucus in the middle of winter. Among a more representative group, Dean would have done even worse. We also recall that ‘Obama Girl’ grabbed her 15 minutes of fame, but didn’t manage to turn out for the primary.
BUT, the Obama campaign is being run with Republican-like precision. Their use of the internet, couples with early voting, is changing the political landscape. Young voters are voting early, so I suspect that we will see significantly higher turn outs as a result. I think this is one of the major wildcards of this election.
It will be interesting to see which Demographic pushes the eventual winner over the Top.

The elderly, obese, lesbian, handicapped, asian women vote, will be the deciding demographic.
If some liberal influence really was skewing polls in Senator Obama’s favor, it really wouldn’t be helping him. Obama supporters may then become complacent and choose not to wait in line hours to cast a vote for a candidate that they perceive will win by a large margin.
Lots of frustrated conservatives drinking the Kool-Aid here.
